കൊല്ലം നഗരത്തിന്റെയും കരുനാഗപ്പള്ളി നഗരസഭയുടെയും ചവറ, ചാത്തന്നൂർ, പരവൂർ എന്നീ ഡിവിഷനുകളുടെയും ക്രമസമാധാന പരിപാലനത്തിനും നിയമനിർവ്വഹണത്തിനുമായി രൂപീകരിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള കേരളാ പോലീസിന്റെ ഒരു ഉപവിഭാഗമാണ് കൊല്ലം സിറ്റി പോലീസ് (ഇംഗ്ലീഷ്: Kollam City Police).[3][4] 2011 മാർച്ച് 1-നാണ് ഇത് രൂപീകരിച്ചത്. സിറ്റി പോലീസ് കമ്മീഷണർ എന്ന ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥനാണ് ഇതിന്റെ മേധാവി. ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഔദ്യോഗിക വസതി കൊല്ലം കന്റോൺമെന്റിലെ ആംഡ് റിസർവ്വ് പോലീസ് ഫോഴ്സ് ക്യാമ്പിനു സമീപം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു.

ചരിത്രം[തിരുത്തുക]

2011 ഫെബ്രുവരി 5-ലെ കേരള സർക്കാർ ഉത്തരവ് പ്രകാരം കൊല്ലം ജില്ലാ പോലീസിനെ കൊല്ലം അർബൻ പോലീസ് ഡിസ്ട്രിക്ട് (കൊല്ലം സിറ്റി പോലീസ്) എന്നും കൊല്ലം റൂറൽ പോലീസ് ഡിസ്ട്രിക്ട് എന്നും രണ്ടായി വിഭജിച്ചു. കൊല്ലം ആസ്ഥാനമായുള്ള സിറ്റി പോലീസിന്റെ ചുമതല സിറ്റി പോലീസ് കമ്മീഷണറും കൊട്ടാരക്കര ആസ്ഥാനമായുള്ള റൂറൽ പോലീസിന്റെ ചുമതല ഡിസ്ട്രിക്ട് പോലീസ് ചീഫും നിർവ്വഹിക്കുന്നു. രണ്ടു പോലീസ് മേധാവികളും തിരുവനന്തപുരം റേഞ്ചിലെ ഇൻസ്പെക്ടർ ജനറലിനു റിപ്പോർട്ട് സമർപ്പിക്കുന്നു.[5]

നിയമനിർവ്വഹണം[തിരുത്തുക]

നിയമനിർവ്വഹണം നടപ്പാക്കുന്നതിനായി കൊല്ലം സിറ്റി പോലീസിനു കീഴിൽ 17 പോലീസ് സ്റ്റേഷനുകൾ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. ഇതിൽ എട്ടെണ്ണം കൊല്ലം ഡിവിഷനു കീഴിലും 4 എണ്ണം കരുനാഗപ്പള്ളി ഡിവിഷനു കീഴിലും 4 എണ്ണം ചാത്തന്നൂർ ഡിവിഷനു കീഴിലും ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു.[6][7][8]

കൊല്ലം ജില്ലാ പോലീസിന്റെ ഡോഗ് സ്ക്വാഡ് ആശ്രാമത്ത് പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നു. 2010 മാർച്ച് 2-ന് എസ്.പി.യായിരുന്ന ഹർഷിത അട്ടലൂരിയാണ് ഇത് ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്തത്.[11] 2016 നവംബർ 3-ന് കൊല്ലം സിറ്റി പോലീസിന്റെ ഗുണ്ടാ സ്ക്വാഡും രൂപീകരിച്ചു. പത്ത് അംഗങ്ങളുള്ള ഈ സ്ക്വാഡിന്റെ തലവൻ സബ് ഇൻസ്പെക്ടറാണ്.[12]
