കേരളത്തിൽ കാണപ്പെടുന്ന സൂചിവാലൻ കുടുംബത്തിൽ ഉള്ള സന്ധ്യക്കു പറക്കുന്ന ഒരു കല്ലൻതുമ്പിയിനമാണ് തുരുമ്പൻ രാജൻ[3][4] (ശാസ്ത്രീയനാമം: Anaciaeschna jaspidea).[5] ഇന്ത്യ മുതൽ ഓസ്ട്രേലിയ വരെയുള്ള രാജ്യങ്ങളിലും ശാന്തസമുദ്രത്തോട് ചേർന്നുകിടക്കുന്ന പല രാജ്യങ്ങളിലും ഇവ കാണപ്പെടുന്നു.[6][1]
വിവരണം[തിരുത്തുക]
തുരുമ്പൻ ചാത്തനുമായി ഇവയ്ക്ക് വളരെ സാമ്യമുണ്ടെങ്കിലും ഉദരത്തിലെ വരകൾ വ്യത്യസ്തമാക്കുന്നു. ഉദരവും ഉരസ്സും തവിട്ട് കലർന്ന ചുവപ്പ് നിറമാണ്. ഉരസ്സിന്റെ വശങ്ങളിൽ മഞ്ഞ കലർന്ന പച്ച നിറത്തിലുള്ള വീതിയുളള രണ്ട് വരകളുണ്ട്. സുതാര്യമായ ചിറകുകളിൽ ഇളം തവിട്ട് നിറം വ്യാപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ഉദരത്തിന്റെ ആദ്യത്തെ രണ്ട് ഖണ്ഡങ്ങളിൽ ഇളം നീല കലകളുണ്ട്. കറുത്ത കാലുകളുടെ തുടക്കഭാഗം ചുവപ്പു കലർന്ന തവിട്ടു നിറമാണ്. കാഴ്ചയിൽ ആൺതുമ്പികളെ പോലെയാണെങ്കിലും ചിറകുകളിൽ തവിട്ടു നിറം കൂടുതലായികാണുന്നു.[7]
ആവാസ വ്യവസ്ഥ[തിരുത്തുക]
പകൽ സമയങ്ങളിൽ പൊന്തക്കാടുകളിലും മുളങ്കാടുകളിലും തൂങ്ങിക്കിടന്ന് വിശ്രമിയ്ക്കുന്ന ഇവ സന്ധ്യാസമയത്ത് കൊതുകുകളെ ധാരാളമായി ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്നതായി കണ്ടെത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. കുളങ്ങളിലും ചതുപ്പുകളിലുമാണ് ഇവ മുട്ടയിയുന്നത്.[8][7][9]
