പശ്ചിമഘട്ടതദ്ദേശവാസിയായ ഒരു തവളയാണ് ബെഡോം പാറത്തവള അഥവാ Beddome's leaping Frog (Beddome's Indian frog). (ശാസ്ത്രീയനാമം: Indirana beddomii). ഐ യു സി എൻ പട്ടികപ്രകാരമുള്ള പരിപാലന സ്ഥിതി നിലനിൽപ്പ് ആശങ്കാജനകമല്ലാത്ത ജീവിവർഗ്ഗങ്ങൾ എന്നാണ്. [2] റിച്ചാർഡ് ഹെൻറി ബെഡോമി എന്ന പ്രകൃതിശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞന്റെ സ്മരണാർത്ഥമാണ് ഈ സ്പീഷീസിന് ഇന്ധിരാനാ ബെഡ്ഡോമി (Indirana beddomii) എന്ന പേരു നൽകിയത്.
വിവരണം[തിരുത്തുക]
മുതിർന്ന തവളകൾക്ക് 35-60 മില്ലീമീറ്റർ നീളം മുണ്ടാകും. ഇവയുടെ വിരലുകളിൽ ഒന്നാമത്തേയും രണ്ടാമത്തേയും വിരൽ തുല്യ വലിപ്പമുള്ളവയാണ്. വിരലുകളുടെ അഗ്രങ്ങളിൽ വികസിപ്പിക്കാൻ സാധിക്കുന്ന ഡിസ്കുകൾ ഉണ്ട്.
വിതരണവും സ്വാഭാവിക വാസസ്ഥലങ്ങളും[തിരുത്തുക]
പശ്ചിമഘട്ടത്തിന്റെ വനങ്ങളിലാണ് ഈ സ്പീഷീസ് കാണപ്പെടുന്നത്.[2] ആർദ്ര ഇലപൊഴിയും വനങ്ങളിലെ പുഴയുള്ള പ്രദേശത്തും, നിത്യഹരിത വനങ്ങളിലും ചതുപ്പുകളിലുമാണ് സാധാരണയായി വസിക്കുന്നത്.[3] ഇവയെ കൃഷി മേഖലകളിൽ കാണപ്പെടാറില്ല.നനവാർന്ന കിഴുക്കാംതൂക്കായ പാറകളിൽ വെച്ചാണ് ഇവയുടെ ബ്രീഡിംഗ് നടത്തുന്നത്.
