മുംബൈയിൽ ആദ്യത്തെ കോക്ലിയർ ഇംപ്ലാന്റ് ശസ്ത്രക്രിയ നടത്തിയതായി റിപ്പോർട്ട് ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ട ഇന്ത്യൻ ഓട്ടോറിനോളറിംഗോളജിസ്റ്റാണ് മിലിന്ദ് വസന്ത് കീർത്തനെ. വൈദ്യശാസ്ത്രരംഗത്തെ സമഗ്ര സംഭാവനകളെ പരിഗണിച്ച് 2014-ൽ ഇന്ത്യാ ഗവൺമെന്റ് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ നാലാമത്തെ പരമോന്നത സിവിലിയൻ അവാർഡായ പത്മശ്രീ ബഹുമതി നൽകി ആദരിച്ചു. ജീവചരിത്രം
[തിരുത്തുക]ജന്മംകൊണ്ട് മഹാരാഷ്ട്രക്കാരനായ മിലിന്ദ് വസന്ത് കീർത്തനെ കിംഗ് എഡ്വേർഡ് ജോൺസ് മെമ്മോറിയൽ ഹോസ്പിറ്റലിൽ നിന്നും സേത്ത് ഗോർഡന്ദാസ് സുന്ദർദാസ് മെഡിക്കൽ കോളേജിൽ നിന്നും ഒട്ടോറിനോളറിംഗോളജിയിൽ നിന്നും ബിരുദാനന്തരബിരുദം നേടി, ഇപ്പോൾ അവിടെ അദ്ദേഹം ഓണററി സർജനും പ്രൊഫസർ എമെറിറ്റസും ആണ് . [2] കോക്ലിയർ ഇംപ്ലാന്റുകൾ, എൻഡോസ്കോപ്പിക് സൈനസ് സർജറി, ന്യൂറോടോളജി എന്നിവയിൽ അദ്ദേഹം പ്രാവീണ്യം നേടി. [3] ബ്രീച്ച് കാൻഡി ഹോസ്പിറ്റൽ, സഫായി ഹോസ്പിറ്റൽ, പിഡി ഹിന്ദുജ നാഷണൽ ഹോസ്പിറ്റൽ, മുംബൈയിലെ മെഡിക്കൽ റിസർച്ച് സെന്റർ തുടങ്ങി വിവിധ ആശുപത്രികളിൽ കൺസൾട്ടന്റ് ഇഎൻ‌ടി സർജനാണ്. [4] 2300 കോക്ലിയർ ഇംപ്ലാന്റ് ശസ്ത്രക്രിയകൾ അദ്ദേഹം നടത്തി. മുംബൈയിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ കോക്ലിയർ ഇംപ്ലാന്റ് ശസ്ത്രക്രിയ ചെയ്ത ബഹുമതി അദ്ദേഹത്തിനാണ്.
2005 -ൽ ഇന്ത്യ സർക്കാരിൽ നിന്ന് ബി.സി. റോയ് അവാർഡ് അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു ലഭിച്ചു,[3] [2] കൂടാതെ മെഡിക്കൽ സയൻസ് നാഷണൽ അക്കാദമിയുടെ ഒരു തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ട ഫെലോയും ആണെന്നതു കൂടാതെ പല പ്രധാനസ്ഥാനങ്ങളും അദ്ദേഹം വഹിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്.[5] സൈനസ് എൻഡോസ്കോപ്പിക് സൊസൈറ്റി ഓഫ് ഇന്ത്യയുടെ സ്ഥാപക പ്രസിഡന്റും ഇന്ത്യൻ സൊസൈറ്റി ഓഫ് ഓട്ടോളജിയുടെയും ഇന്ത്യൻ സൊസൈറ്റി ഓഫ് ലാറിഞ്ചോളജിയുടെയും സ്ഥാപകരിലൊരാളാണ്. അസോസിയേഷൻ ഓഫ് ഓട്ടോളറിംഗോളജിസ്റ്റ്സ് ഓഫ് ഇന്ത്യയുടെ അംഗവും മുൻ പ്രസിഡന്റുമാണ്. ഇന്ത്യയിൽ നിന്ന് സ്വീഡനിലെ ബാരാനി സൊസൈറ്റിയിലേക്ക് തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ട ആദ്യത്തെ വ്യക്തിയാണ് കീർത്തനെ (1983). കൂടാതെ ന്യൂറോളജിക്കൽ ആൻഡ് ഇക്വിലിബ്രിയോമെട്രിക് സൊസൈറ്റി ഓഫ് ഇന്ത്യ, 4-ജി ഫോർഷ്ചുംഗ്, ജർമ്മനി, അമേരിക്കൻ റൈനോളജിക് സൊസൈറ്റി എന്നിവയിൽ അംഗത്വമുണ്ട്. ന്യൂറോട്ടോളജിക്കൽ ആൻഡ് ഇക്വിലിബ്രിയോമെട്രിക് സൊസൈറ്റി ഇന്റർനാഷണൽ, ഇന്റർനാഷണൽ ടിന്നിടസ് ജേണൽ, ഐ.എസ്.ആർ.എൻ ഒട്ടോളറിംഗോളജി, ആർക്കൈവ്സ് ഫോർ സെൻസോളജി ആൻഡ് ന്യൂറോടോളജി ഇൻ സയൻസ് ആൻഡ് പ്രാക്ടീസ് (എ.എസ്.എൻ) ന്റെ എഡിറ്റോറിയൽ ബോർഡിലും അദ്ദേഹമുണ്ട്.
