പിതാക്കന്മാരെയും പിതൃബന്ധത്തെയും സമൂഹത്തിൽ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ സ്വാധീനവും ബഹുമാനിക്കുന്ന ഒരു ആഘോഷമാണ് പിതൃ ദിനം. കത്തോലിക്കാ യൂറോപ്പിൽ മധ്യകാലഘട്ടം മുതൽ മാർച്ച് 19 ന് (സെന്റ് ജോസഫ്സ് ഡേ) ആഘോഷിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന ഈ ആഘോഷം സ്പാനിഷ്, പോർട്ടുഗീസ് തുടങ്ങി ലാറ്റിനമേരിക്കൻ രാജ്യങ്ങളിൽ എത്തിച്ചേർന്നു. യൂറോപ്പിലെയും അമേരിക്കയിലെയും പല രാജ്യങ്ങളും യുഎസ് തീയതിയായ ജൂൺ മാസത്തെ മൂന്നാമത്തെ ഞായറാഴ്ചയാണ് പിതൃ ദിനമായി സ്വീകരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. (2019 ൽ ജൂൺ 16). മാർച്ച്, ഏപ്രിൽ, ജൂൺ തുടങ്ങിയ ഏതെങ്കിലും മാസം ലോകത്തിന്റെ വിവിധ ഭാഗങ്ങളിൽ വിവിധ ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ പിതൃ ദിനം ആഘോഷിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. മദർ ഡേ, സഹോദരന്മാർക്കുള്ള ദിവസം, മുത്തശ്ശീമുത്തശ്ശൻ ദിവസം എന്നിവ പോലെ കുടുംബാംഗങ്ങളെ ആദരിക്കുന്ന ആഘോഷങ്ങൾ പലതും ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു.
ചരിത്രവും പാരമ്പര്യവും
[തിരുത്തുക]കത്തോലിക്കാ യൂറോപ്പിൽ പിതൃ ദിന ആഘോഷം കുറഞ്ഞത് മദ്ധ്യകാലഘട്ടങ്ങൾ മുതൽതന്നെ ആരംഭിച്ചിരുന്നു. ഇത് മാർച്ച് 19 ന്, സെന്റ് ജോസഫ് എന്ന ഉത്സവത്തോടനുബന്ധിച്ച് തെക്കേ യൂറോപ്യൻ പാരമ്പര്യത്തിൽ ഓരോ കത്തോലിക്കാവിശ്വാസിയും "യേശുവിന്റെ പിതാവ്" എന്ന് വിളിക്കപ്പെട്ടുകൊണ്ട് പിതൃദിനം ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു. ഈ ആഘോഷം അമേരിക്കക്കാരാണ് കൊണ്ടുവന്നതെങ്കിലും സ്പാനിഷ്, പോർച്ചുഗീസ്, ലാറ്റിൻ അമേരിക്ക എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലും കണ്ടുവരുന്നു. മാർച്ച് 19-നും പിതാവിന്റെ ദിനം ആഘോഷിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. പതിനാലാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിലെ അവസാന വർഷങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നോ പതിനഞ്ചാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിന്റെ തുടക്കത്തിൽ നിന്നോ, ഫ്രാൻസിസ്കൻസിന്റെ മുൻഗാമിയിൽ നിന്നോ, സെന്റ് ജോസഫ് ദിനത്തിൽ ജന്മദിനം ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നതിന്റെ ആചാരത്തെ കത്തോലിക്കാ സഭ സജീവമായി പിന്തുണച്ചു.
1910-ൽ അമേരിക്കയിലാണ് ആദ്യമായി പിത്യദിനം ആഘോഷിച്ചത്. സൊനോറ സ്മാർട്ട് ഡോഡ് എന്ന പെൺകുട്ടിയുടെ ആശയം. അമ്മ മരിക്കുമ്പോൾ സെനോറയും അവളുടെ അഞ്ച് അനുജന്മാരും കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളാണ്. അവരാറുപേരുടെയും ചുമതല അച്ഛന്റെ ചുമലിലായി. വില്യം ജാക്സൺ എന്ന ആ അച്ഛൻ നന്നായിത്തന്നെ മക്കളെ വളർത്തി. വിഷമങ്ങളും പ്രതി സന്ധികളും അറിയിക്കാതെ തങ്ങളെ വളർത്തി വലുതാക്കിയ അച്ഛന് വലിയൊരു സന്തോഷം സമ്മാനിക്കണ മെന്ന് കുറച്ചു മുതിർന്നപ്പോൾ മകൾക്ക് തോന്നി. അവൾ പലരോടും ഈ കാര്യം പങ്കുവെച്ചു. എല്ലാവരും ചേർന്ന് അവളുടെ സ്വപ്നം യാഥാർഥ്യമാക്കി. അങ്ങനെ 1910 ജൂണിലെ ഒരു ഞായറാഴ്ച പ്രാദേശികമായി പിതൃദിനം ആഘോഷിച്ചു. പിന്നെപ്പിന്നെ ആ ആഘോഷം പലനാടുകളിലേക്ക് വ്യാപിച്ചു. 1972-ൽ അമേരിക്കയുടെ അന്നത്തെ പ്രസിഡന്റായ റിച്ചാഡ് നിക്സൺ എല്ലാവർഷവും ജൂണിലെ മൂന്നാമത്തെ ഞായറാഴ്ച "ഫാദേഴ്സ് ഡേ' ആയി ആചരിക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള ഔദ്യോഗിക പ്രഖ്യാപനം നടത്തി.
