മലയാള ഭാഷയിലെ കേരളത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും മഹാനായ കവിയായ വള്ളത്തോൾ നാരായണ മേനോന്റെ പേരിലോ മഹാകവി വള്ളത്തോൾ എന്ന പേരിലോ അറിയപ്പെടുന്നതാണ് ഈ സ്റ്റേഷന്റെ പേര്. ഇന്ത്യൻ പ്രകടന കലകൾ, പ്രത്യേകിച്ചും കേരളത്തിൽ വികസിച്ചവപഠിക്കാനുള്ള ഒരു പ്രധാന കേന്ദ്രമായ ചെരുതുരുത്തിയിൽ കേരള കലാമണ്ഡലം സ്ഥാപിക്കുന്നതിൽ വള്ളത്തോൾ നാരായണ മേനോൻ നിർണായക പങ്കുവഹിച്ചു, .^[5]
