ഭൂട്ടാന്റെ തലസ്ഥാനമാണ് ആ രാജ്യത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ നഗരവും കൂടിയായ തിംഫു (Tibetan script: ཐིམ་ཕུག་, Dzongkha: ཐིམ་ཕུ་) [1][2]
ഭൂട്ടാന്റെ മദ്ധ്യ-പശ്ചിമ ഭാഗത്തായി തിംഫു ജില്ലയിൽ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന ഈ നഗരം 1961-ലാണ് ഭൂട്ടാന്റെ തലസ്ഥാനമായത്. 2005-ൽ തിംഫു ജില്ലയിലെ ജനസംഖ്യ 98,676 ആയിരുന്നപ്പോൾ തിംഫു നഗരത്തിലെ ജനസംഖ്യ 79,185[1] ആയിരുന്നു. 27°28′00″N 89°38′30″E / 27.46667°N 89.64167°E-ൽ സമുദ്രനിരപ്പിൽനിന്നും 2,248 മീറ്റർ (7,375 അടി) നും 2,648 മീറ്റർ (8,688 അടി)നുമിടയിലായാണ് ഈ നഗരം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്[3][4][5][6][7]
