തെക്കുകിഴക്കൻ ഏഷ്യയിൽ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന ദ്വീപുരാഷ്ട്രമായ ബ്രൂണൈയുടെ തലസ്ഥാനവും രാജ്യത്തെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ നഗരവുമാണ് ബന്ദർ സെരി ബെഗവൻ. ബന്ദർ ബ്രൂണൈ എന്നറിയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന നഗരത്തിനു ബന്ദർ സെരി ബെഗവൻ എന്ന പേർ നൽകിയത് 29ആമത് ബ്രൂണൈ സുൽത്താനായ ഹസനാൽ ബോലിയാഖ് ആണ്.[1]. മലയ് ഭാഷ, ഇംഗ്ലീഷ്, ചൈനീസ് എന്നിവയാണ് ഇവിടുത്തെ പ്രധാന സംസാരഭാഷകൾ[2] .ബ്രൂണൈ നദിയുടെ വടക്കേക്കരയിലായി സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന ബന്ദർ സെരി ബെഗവനിൽ 2011 സെൻസസ് പ്രകാരം 2,79,224 ആളുകൾ താമസിക്കുന്നു[3].
