കോട്ട് ദ്’ഇവാർ എന്ന് വിളിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന ഐവറി കോസ്റ്റ് പശ്ചിമ ആഫ്രിക്കയിലെ ഒരു രാജ്യമാണ്. പടിഞ്ഞാറൻ അതിരുകൾ ലൈബീരിയയും ഗിനിയയുമാണ്. വടക്ക് മാലിയും ബർക്കിന ഫാസോയും കിഴക്ക് ഘാനയും തെക്ക് ഗിനിയ ഉൾക്കടലുമാണ് അതിരുകൾ. ഒരുകാലത്ത് ആഫ്രിക്കയിലെ തന്നെ ഏറ്റവും സമ്പന്നമായിരുന്ന ഈ രാജ്യം ഇന്ന് രാഷ്ട്രീയ അസ്ഥിരതയും രാജ്യത്തിനകത്തു തന്നെ ഉള്ള യുദ്ധവും കൊണ്ട് സാമ്പത്തികമായി താഴേയ്ക്ക് പോയിരിക്കുന്നു. രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ രാഷ്ട്രപതിക്കു നേരെ നടന്ന ഒരു വധശ്രമമായിരുന്നു ആന്തരിക യുദ്ധത്തിനു കാരണം. വിവിധ സായുധ സംഘടനകളുടെയും സർക്കാരിന്റെയും നിയന്ത്രണത്തിൽ പല ഭാഗങ്ങളും ആയിപ്പോയ ഈ രാജ്യത്ത് സമാധാനം കൊണ്ടുവരാൻ ഐക്യരാഷ്ട്രസഭ, ഫ്രാൻസ്, സൗത്ത് ആഫ്രിക്ക, എന്നിവർ ലൈബീരിയൻ രാഷ്ട്രപതിയായ ലോറെന്റ് ഗാഗ്ബോയുമൊത്ത് ചേർന്ന് ശ്രമിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. ഈ സമാധാന ശ്രമങ്ങൾ ഇതുവരെ ഫലപ്രാപ്തിയിൽ എത്തിയിട്ടില്ല.
