അമേരിക്കൻ ഐക്യനാടുകളിലെ മുപ്പതാമത്തെ പ്രസിഡൻും റിപ്പബ്ലിക്കൻ പാർട്ടി നേതാവും അഭിഭാഷകനുമായിരുന്നു കാൽവിൻ കൂളിഡ്ജ് - Calvin Coolidge. 1920ൽ അമേരിക്കയുട 29 ആമത്തെ വൈസ് പ്രസിഡന്റായി തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടു. 1923ൽ വാറൻ ഹാർഡിംഗിന്റെ പെട്ടൊന്നുള്ള മരണത്തെ തുടർന്നാണ് പ്രസിഡന്റായത്. 1923 ആഗസ്റ്റ് രണ്ടു മുതൽ 1929 മാർച്ച് നാലു വരെ അമേരിക്കൻ പ്രസിഡന്റായി സേവനമനുഷ്ടിച്ചു.[1]
ജനനം, കുടുംബം
[തിരുത്തുക]ജോൺ കാൽവിൻ കൂലിഡ്ജ്, വിക്ടോറിയ ജോസഫൈൻ മൂർ എന്നിവരുടെ രണ്ടു മക്കളിൽ മൂത്തയാളായി 1872 ജൂലൈ നാലിന് ജനിച്ചു. അമേരിക്കൻ ഐക്യനാടുകളുടെ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യ ദിനമായ ജൂലൈ നാലിന് ജനിച്ച അമേരിക്കൻ പ്രസിഡന്റാണ് ഇദ്ദേഹം. ഒരു സർക്കാർ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥനായിരുന്നു കാൽവിൻ കൂളിഡ്ജിന്റെ പിതാവ്. വിട്ടുമാറാത്ത ശ്വാസകോശരോഗത്തിന് ഇരയായ മാതാവ് വിക്ടോറിയ ജോസഫൈൻ, കൂളിഡ്ജിന് 12 വയസ്സായ സമയത്ത് മരണപ്പെട്ടു. ഇളയ സഹോദരി ഗ്രേസ് കൂളിഡ്ജ് പതിനഞ്ചാം വയസ്സിൽ മരണപ്പെട്ടു. 1891ൽ കൂളിഡ്ജിന്റെ 18ാം വയസ്സിൽ പിതാവ് പുനർവിവാഹിതനായി.
