നോബൽ സമ്മാന ജേതാവായ ഒരു അമേരിക്കൻ ഭൗതിക ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞനാണ് റോബർട്ട് ആൻഡ്രൂസ് മില്ലിക്കൻ(മാർച്ച് 22, 1868 – ഡിസംബർ 19, 1953). അടിസ്ഥാന ഇലക്ട്രിക് ചാർജ്ജിന്റെ മൂല്യം കണ്ടെത്തിയതിനും ഫോട്ടോ ഇലക്ട്രിക് പ്രഭാവത്തിൽ നടത്തിയ പഠനങ്ങൾക്കും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് 1923ൽ നോബൽ സമ്മാനം ലഭിച്ചു.
ജീവചരിത്രം
[തിരുത്തുക]1868 മാർച്ച് 22 ന് യു.എസിലെ ഇല്ലിനോയിയിലെ മോറിസണിൽ, റവ. സിലാസ് ഫ്രാങ്ക്ലിൻ മില്ലിക്കന്റെയും മേരി ജെയിൻ ആൻഡ്രൂസിന്റെയും രണ്ടാമത്തെ മകനായി റോബർട്ട് ആൻഡ്രൂസ് മില്ലിക്കൻ ജനിച്ചു. 1886 ൽ ഒബർലിൻ കോളേജിൽ ചേരുന്നതിന് മുമ്പ് മക്വോകെറ്റ കമ്മ്യൂണിറ്റി ഹൈസ്കൂളിൽ പഠിച്ച അദ്ദേഹം അവിടെനിന്ന് 1891 ൽ ബി.എ. ബിരുദവും 1893 ൽ എം.എ. ബിരുദവും നേടി.[5]
