ജീവിതരേഖ

1934 ജൂൺ 23-ന് ഷിംലയിലെ രജപുത്രകുടുംബത്തിൽ ജനിച്ച വീരഭദ്രസിങ്, രാജാവായാണ് ഭരണം തുടങ്ങിയത്. പതിമൂന്നാം വയസ്സിൽ, അച്ഛൻ പദംസിങ്ങിന്റെ പിൻഗാമിയായി ബുഷഹർ നാട്ടുരാജ്യത്തിന്റെ അധിപനായി. 1961-ൽ കോൺഗ്രസ് പാർട്ടിയിലൂടെയാണ് അദ്ദേഹം രാഷ്ട്രീയത്തിലേക്കെത്തിയത്. തൊട്ടടുത്ത വർഷം നടന്ന തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പിൽ മഹസു മണ്ഡലത്തിൽനിന്ന് ജയിച്ച് ലോക്‌സഭയിലെത്തി. 1967-ലും '72-ലും വിജയമാവർത്തിച്ചു. 1980-ൽ മണ്ഡി മണ്ഡലത്തിൽ നിന്ന് ലോക്‌സഭയിലെത്തി. 2009-ലും ഇതേ മണ്ഡലത്തിൽ നിന്ന് ജയിച്ചു. മൂന്നുതവണ കേന്ദ്രമന്ത്രിയായി.

1976, '77ൽ വിനോദസഞ്ചാര, വ്യോമയാന സഹമന്ത്രി. 1980-'83ൽ വ്യവസായവകുപ്പ് സഹമന്ത്രി, 2009 മെയ് മുതൽ 2011 ജനവരി വരെ ഉരുക്കുമന്ത്രി. 2012 ജൂണിൽ അഴിമതി ആരോപണത്തെത്തുടർന്ന് രാജിവെക്കും വരെ ചെറുകിട വ്യവസായ മന്ത്രി എന്നീ ചുമതലകൾ അദ്ദേഹം വഹിച്ചു.

ദേശീയ രാഷ്ട്രീയത്തിനൊപ്പം സംസ്ഥാനരാഷ്ട്രീയത്തിലും ശ്രദ്ധവെച്ച അദ്ദേഹം ഏഴുതവണ നിയമസഭാംഗമായി. 1983-ലെ ഉപതിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പിലെ കന്നിയങ്കത്തിൽ തന്നെ ജയം. '85, '90, '93, '98, 2003 വർഷങ്ങളിലും ജയിച്ചു. 15-ആം ലോകസഭയിൽ അംഗമായ ഇദ്ദേഹം ഹിമാചൽ പ്രദേശിലെ മണ്ഡി മണ്ഡലത്തെ പ്രതിനിധീകരിച്ചിരുന്നു.[4]

അഴിമതി ആരോപണം

1989-ൽ സിങ് ഹിമാചൽ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിയായിരിക്കെയാണ് അഴിമതി ആരോപണത്തിനാസ്പദമായ സംഭവം. സംസ്ഥാനത്ത് നിക്ഷേപം നടത്തുന്നതുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട് അദ്ദേഹവും ഭാര്യ പ്രതിഭയും ഐ.എ.എസ് ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥനായ മൊഹീന്ദർ ലാലും മറ്റു ചില വ്യവസായികളുമായി ഫോൺ സംഭാഷണം നടത്തുന്നതിന്റെ ഓഡിയോ സി.ഡി പുറത്തുവന്നത് വൻവിവാദത്തിനിടയാക്കി. മുൻകോൺഗ്രസ് മുഖ്യമന്ത്രായായിരുന്ന വിജയ് സിങ് മങ്കോട്ടിയയാണ് സി.ഡി പുറത്തുവിട്ടത്. ഇതേത്തുടർന്ന് 2009 ആഗസ്ത് മൂന്നിന് വീർഭദ്രസിങ് ഉൾപ്പെടെയുള്ളവർക്കെതിരെ പോലീസ് കേസെടുത്തു. 2010 ഒക്ടോബറിൽ അദ്ദേഹത്തിനും ഭാര്യക്കുമെതിരെ പ്രോസിക്യൂഷൻ പ്രത്യേക കോടതിയിൽ കുറ്റപത്രം സമർപ്പിച്ചു.[3]

2012 ലെ ഹിമാചൽ നിയമസഭാ തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ്

2012 ലെ ഹിമാചൽ നിയമസഭാ തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പിൽ ആറാമതു തവണയും വീരഭദ്ര സിങ് വിജയിച്ചു. ഹിമാചൽ പ്രദേശ് കോൺഗ്രസ് പാർട്ടിയുടെ അധ്യക്ഷൻ, കോൺഗ്രസ് നിയമസഭാ കക്ഷി നേതാവ്, സംസ്ഥാന കോൺഗ്രസ് കമ്മിറ്റി അധ്യക്ഷൻ എന്നീ നിലകളിൽ പ്രവർത്തിച്ചിരുന്ന വീരഭദ്ര സിങ്, 2012 ജൂലായിൽ എല്ലാ സുപ്രധാനസ്ഥാനങ്ങളും ഒഴിഞ്ഞശേഷമാണ് നിയമസഭാ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പിൽ മത്സരിച്ചത്.
