വംശനാശ ഭീഷണി നേരിടുന്ന ഒരിനം കടലാമയാണ് ഹാക്സ്ബിൽ. (ശാസ്ത്രീയനാമം:Eretmochelys imbricata). കരീബിയൻ കടൽ, അറ്റ്ലാന്റിക് സമുദ്രം, ഇന്ത്യൻ മഹാസമുദ്രം, ശാന്തസമുദ്രം എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിൽ മാത്രമാണ് ഇവ കാണപ്പെടുന്നത്. 1972-ലെ ഇന്ത്യൻ വന്യജീവി നിയമപ്രകാരം സംരക്ഷണം അർഹിക്കുന്ന ഇനമാണിത്. പ്രായപൂർത്തിയായ ആമയുടെ പുറംതോടിന്റെ ഉപരിവക്രത്തിന് 80 സെന്റീമീറ്റർ വരെ നീളവും ആമയ്ക്ക് 55 കിലോ വരെ ഭാരവും ഉണ്ടാകും.
