1889 ജൂണിൽ വരച്ച ഈ ചിത്രം സൂര്യോദയത്തിന് തൊട്ടുമുമ്പ്, സെന്റ്-റൂമി-ഡി-പ്രോവെൻസിലെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അഭയകേന്ദ്രമായ മുറിയുടെ കിഴക്ക് അഭിമുഖമായുള്ള ജാലകത്തിൽ നിന്നുള്ള കാഴ്ച ചിത്രീകരിക്കുന്നു.[1][2][3] 1941 മുതൽ ന്യൂയോർക്ക് നഗരത്തിലെ മ്യൂസിയം ഓഫ് മോഡേൺ ആർട്ടിന്റെ സ്ഥിരമായ ശേഖരത്തിൽ കാണപ്പെടുന്ന ഈ ചിത്രം ലില്ലി പി. ബ്ലിസ് ബീക്വസ്റ്റ് വഴിയാണ് മ്യൂസിയത്തിന് ലഭിച്ചത്. വാൻ ഗോഗിന്റെ ഏറ്റവും മികച്ച രചനകളിലൊന്നായി ഈ ചിത്രം കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.[4] പാശ്ചാത്യ സംസ്കാരത്തിന്റെ ചരിത്രത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും അംഗീകൃത ചിത്രങ്ങളിലൊന്നാണ് സ്റ്റാറി നൈറ്റ്.[5][6]
