ട്രക്കിയോഫൈറ്റ് സസ്യങ്ങളിൽ കാണപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരു സംവഹന കലയാണ് സൈലം (ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് : Xylem). വിവിധതരം കോശങ്ങൾ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്ന സങ്കീർണ ഘടനയാണ് ഇതിനുള്ളത്. സസ്യത്തിന്റെ എല്ലാ ഭാഗത്തും ഇവ കാണപ്പെടുന്നു. ഗ്രീക്ക് ഭാഷയിൽ തടി എന്നർത്ഥം വരുന്ന 'സൈലോൺ' (ξύλον) എന്ന പദത്തിൽ നിന്നാണ് ഈ കലകൾക്ക് 'സൈലം' എന്ന പേരു ലഭിച്ചത്.

നീളമുള്ള കോശങ്ങൾ ചേർന്നാണ് സൈലം രൂപപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നത്. ഈ കോശങ്ങൾ ഒന്നോടൊന്നു ചേർന്ന് കുഴലുകൾ പോലെ കാണപ്പെടുന്നു. ഇവയെ വെസലുകൾ, ട്രക്കീഡുകൾ എന്നിങ്ങനെ രണ്ടായി തിരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. വെസലുകൾക്ക് ട്രക്കീടുകളെ അപേക്ഷിച്ച് വ്യാസം കൂടുതലാണ്. വളർച്ചയെത്തിയ വെസലുകളും ട്രക്കീടുകളും പിന്നീട് മൃതകോശങ്ങളായിത്തീരുന്നു.

വേരു വലിച്ചെടുക്കുന്ന ജലവും ലവണങ്ങളും ഇലകളിലെത്തിക്കുക എന്നതാണ് സൈലം കുഴലുകളുടെ പ്രധാന ധർമ്മം.[1] ലിഗ്നിൻ എന്ന പദാർത്ഥം അടിഞ്ഞു കൂടുന്നതിലൂടെ സൈലത്തിലെ കോശങ്ങൾ ഉറപ്പുള്ളതായിത്തീരുന്നു. ഇത് സസ്യഭാഗങ്ങൾക്ക് ഉറപ്പും കാഠിന്യവും നൽകുന്നു. സസ്യഭാഗങ്ങളെ താങ്ങിനിർത്തുക എന്ന ധർമ്മവും സൈലം നിർവ്വഹിക്കുന്നു.[1] സൈലത്തെ കൂടാതെ സസ്യങ്ങളിൽ കാണപ്പെടുന്ന മറ്റൊരു സംവഹന കലയാണ് ഫ്ലോയം.
