ഇന്തോനേഷ്യ (ഔദ്യോഗിക നാമം: റിപബ്ലിക് ഓഫ് ഇന്തോനേഷ്യ) ഏഷ്യൻ വൻകരയിലെ ഒരു രാജ്യമാണ്. ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതൽ മുസ്ലീം ജനസംഖ്യയുള്ള രാജ്യമാണിത്. ജനസംഖ്യയുടെ കാര്യത്തിൽ ലോകത്തെ നാലാമത്തെ രാജ്യമാണ് ഇന്തോനേഷ്യ. പസഫിക് മഹാസമുദ്രത്തിലെ ദ്വീപുകളുടെയും ഉപദ്വീപുകളുടെയും കൂട്ടമാണ് ഈ രാജ്യം. ഇന്തോനേഷ്യയിലെ പകുതിയോളം പേർ അധിവസിക്കുന്നത് ജാവാദ്വീപിലാണ്. സുമാത്ര, ബോർണിയോ, ന്യൂഗിനി, സുലാവെസി, ബാലി എന്നിവയാണ് മറ്റു പ്രധാന ദ്വീപുകൾ. മലേഷ്യ, ഈസ്റ്റ് ടിമോർ, പപ്പുവ ന്യൂഗിനിയ എന്നിവയാണ് അയൽ രാജ്യങ്ങൾ. ജക്കാർത്തയാണ് തലസ്ഥാനം, ഏറ്റവും വലിയ നഗരവും ഇതുതന്നെ.
മലേഷ്യ ,പാപ്പുവാ ന്യു ഗിനിയ , ഈസ്റ്റ് തിമൂർ എന്നീ രാജ്യങ്ങളുമായി ഇന്തൊനേഷ്യ അതിർത്തി പങ്കിടുന്നു. ഓസ്ട്രേലിയ , സിംഗപ്പൂർ , ഫിലിപ്പീൻസ്, ആന്തമാൻ നിക്കോബാർ ദ്വീപുകൾ എന്നിവയാണ് സമീപ പ്രദേശങ്ങൾ.
ഇന്തോനേഷ്യൻ ദ്വീപസമൂഹങ്ങൾ ഏഴാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിലെ ശ്രീവിജയ സാമ്രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ കാലം മുതൽക്കെ ഒരു പ്രധാന കച്ചവട കേന്ദ്രമായി അറിയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു. ഇൻഡ്യ , ചൈന എന്നീ രാജ്യങ്ങളുമായിട്ടായിരുന്നു പ്രധാന കച്ചവടം. ഇതിന്റെ ഫലമായി തദ്ദേശീയർ ഹിന്ദു , ബുദ്ധ സംസ്കാരങ്ങളെ സ്വാംശീകരിക്കുകയും ഇവിടെ ഹിന്ദു , ബുദ്ധ നാട്ടു രാജ്യങ്ങളുണ്ടാവുകയും ചെയ്തു.
