അഡോക്സസീ കുടുംബത്തിലെ പൂച്ചെടികളുടെ ഒരു ജനുസ്സാണ് സാംബുകസ്. വിവിധ ഇനങ്ങളെ സാധാരണയായി എൽഡർ അല്ലെങ്കിൽ എൽഡർബ്ബെറി എന്നു വിളിക്കുന്നു. കാപ്രിഫോളിയെസീ കുടുംബത്തിൽ ആണ് ഹണിസക്കിൾ സസ്യങ്ങൾ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്ന ഈ ജനുസിനെ ആദ്യം സ്ഥാപിച്ചിരുന്നത്. അഡോക്സസീ കുടുംബത്തിലെ സസ്യങ്ങളുടെ ജനിതക ഘടനയും മോർഫോളജിക്കൽ സവിശേഷതയും അടിസ്ഥാനമാക്കി പുനർ വർഗ്ഗീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടു. അഡോക്സ ജീനസിലുൾപ്പെടുത്തി.
