വിൻസ്റ്റൺ ഓബ്രി അലദാർ ഡിബാൽക്കൻ മാർഷൽ എന്ന പേരിൽ ലണ്ടനിലെ വാൻഡ്‌സ്‌വർത്തിൽ 1987 ഡിസംബർ 20-ന്[1]കുലീനമായ ഒരു യൂറോപ്യൻ ജൂത കുടുംബത്തിൽ [4][5]ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് വ്യവസായിയും മാർഷൽ വേസ് ഹെഡ്ജ് ഫണ്ടിൻ്റെ സഹസ്ഥാപകനുമായ സർ പോൾ മാർഷലിൻ്റെയും സബീന ഡി ബാൽക്കനിയുടെയും മകനായി ജനിച്ചു[6]. ഗായിക/ഗാനരചയിതാവ് ജിയോവന്ന അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഒരു സഹോദരിയാണ്[7] ഫ്രഞ്ചുകാരിയായ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അമ്മയുടെ[8] മുത്തശ്ശി ഫ്രാൻസിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ വനിതാ പ്രോപ്പർട്ടി ഡെവലപ്പർമാരിൽ ഒരാളായ പ്രോപ്പർട്ടി വ്യവസായി മോളി ഡി ബാൽക്കനി ആയിരുന്നു. [9] മാർഷലിൻ്റെ മാതൃസഹോദരൻ ശതകോടീശ്വരൻ ഡെവലപ്പറും കളക്ടറുമായ റോബർട്ട് സെല്ലിംഗർ ഡി ബാൽക്കനി ആയിരുന്നു. [10][11] റോബർട്ടിൻ്റെ വിവാഹത്തിലൂടെ, മാർഷലിൻ്റെ അമ്മായിയമ്മമാരിൽ ആന്ദ്രെ ഫ്രാങ്കോയിസ്-പോൺസെറ്റിൻ്റെ മകൾ ജെനീവീവ് ഫ്രാങ്കോയിസ്-പോൺസെറ്റും സാവോയിലെ രാജകുമാരി മരിയ ഗബ്രിയേലയും ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു.[12][13] മോളിയും റോബർട്ടും ഹംഗേറിയൻ-റൊമാനിയൻ വ്യവസായി അലദാർ സെല്ലിംഗറിൻ്റെ മക്കളായിരുന്നു. രണ്ടാം ലോകമഹായുദ്ധത്തിനുശേഷം കുടുംബം ഫ്രാൻസിലേക്ക് താമസം മാറ്റി.[13] [14] ഫ്രാൻസിൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ അവർ "ഡി ബാൽക്കനി" എന്ന് പേരിനൊപ്പം ചേർത്തു.[15] മാർഷൽ തൻ്റെ കുടുംബത്തിലെ പതിമൂന്ന് അംഗങ്ങൾ "ഹോളോകോസ്റ്റിൽ" കൊല ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടുവെന്നും തൻ്റെ അമ്മൂമ്മ അതിനെ അതിജീവിച്ചവളാണെന്നും പറയുന്നു.[4][16]ലണ്ടനിലെ ഒരു സ്വതന്ത്ര വിദ്യാലയമായ സെൻ്റ് പോൾസ് സ്കൂളിലായിരുന്നു മാർഷലിൻ്റെ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം.[4][2] [3] 2010-ൽ, ദി ഗാർഡിയൻ എഴുതി, "സംഗീതജ്ഞർ സ്വകാര്യമായി വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം നേടുന്നതിൽ അന്തർലീനമായി തെറ്റില്ല. അവരിൽ ഒരാൾ "കൺട്രി" വിൻസ്റ്റൺ മാർഷൽ എന്ന പേരിൽ പോകണമെന്ന് നിർബന്ധിക്കുന്നത് അൽപ്പം അസഹ്യമാണ്.[17]

പതിമൂന്നാം വയസ്സിൽ ഗിറ്റാർ വായിക്കാൻ തുടങ്ങിയ മാർഷൽ ഗോബ്ലേഴ്‌സ് നോബ് എന്ന പേരിൽ ഒരു ZZ ടോപ്പ് കവർ ഗ്രൂപ്പ് ആരംഭിച്ചു.[18][3] മംഫോർഡ് ആൻഡ് സൺസിൻ്റെ മറ്റ് അംഗങ്ങളെ ജാസ് സ്വാധീനിച്ചപ്പോൾ മാർഷൽ 2013-ൽ ഈ വിഭാഗത്തെ "ഏറ്റവും താഴ്ന്ന കലാരൂപം" എന്നാണ് വിശേഷിപ്പിച്ചത്.[18] ഓ ബ്രദർ, വേർ ആർട്ട് ദൗ?, കണ്ടതിന് ശേഷമാണ് നാടോടി സംഗീതത്തിലേക്ക് മാറുകയും മുടിയിഴകൾ മുറുകിയതും ചുരുണ്ടതുമായ ഇഴകളുണ്ടാക്കുന്ന വിധത്തിൽ ക്രമീകരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുകയും ബാഞ്ചോ വായിക്കാൻ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് പ്രചോദനമാകയും ചെയ്തത്. തൻ്റെ ചെറുപ്പത്തിലെ ചൂഷണങ്ങളെ പരാമർശിച്ചുകൊണ്ട്, അദ്ദേഹം സ്വയം ഒരു ട്രസ്റ്റാ ഫാരിയൻ ആയി കണ്ടു. സംഗീതം വായിക്കുന്നതിനായി സർവകലാശാലയിൽ ചേരേണ്ടതില്ലെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം തീരുമാനിച്ചു.[18] മാർഷലും ഭാവി ബാൻഡ്‌മേറ്റ് മാർക്കസ് മംഫോർഡും കൗമാരപ്രായത്തിൽ[19][20] പള്ളിയിൽ വച്ച് കണ്ടുമുട്ടി. ചർച്ച് ഗ്രൂപ്പിലും ആരാധനാ ബാൻഡിലും ആരാധന സംഗീതം ആലപിക്കുന്ന മാർഷലിനെ "ചുറ്റും ആകർഷകമാണെന്ന്" മംഫോർഡ് പറയുകയുണ്ടായി.[18][21] ഒരു മൾട്ടി-ഇൻസ്ട്രുമെൻ്റലിസ്റ്റായ മാർഷൽ, ബാഞ്ചോയിസ്റ്റുകൾ കുറവായതിനാലാണ് താൻ ഗിറ്റാറിനേക്കാൾ ബാഞ്ചോയിൽ ശ്രദ്ധ കേന്ദ്രീകരിക്കാൻ തീരുമാനിച്ചതെന്നും അതിനാൽ സഭായോഗ ജോലികൾ ലഭിക്കാൻ തനിക്ക് എളുപ്പമായെന്നും പറയുകയുണ്ടായി.[22]

മാർഷൽ ഐറിഷ് സ്റ്റൈലിസ്റ്റായ സൂസൻ കൂണിയുമായി ഡേറ്റ് ചെയ്തു[23] അവർ മംഫോർഡ് & സൺസ്, ഹൈം എന്നിവരോടൊപ്പം[24] 2012 മാർച്ചിൽ വൈറ്റ് ഹൗസ് ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് സ്റ്റേറ്റ് ഡിന്നറിൽ പങ്കെടുത്തു.[25] 2015-ൽ അദ്ദേഹം അമേരിക്കൻ ഗായിക കാറ്റി പെറിയുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു[23] അവൾ ജോൺ മേയറുമായി ഡേറ്റിംഗ് നടത്തുമ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹം അവളുമായി ഡേറ്റിംഗ് നടത്തിയതായും റിപ്പോർട്ടുണ്ട്.[26] 2015 ജൂലൈയിൽ അമേരിക്കൻ നടി ഡയാന അഗ്രോണുമായി മാർഷൽ ഡേറ്റിംഗ് നടത്തുകയാണെന്ന് ആദ്യം റിപ്പോർട്ട് ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടു.[27] 2015 അവസാനത്തോടെ ദമ്പതികൾ വിവാഹനിശ്ചയം നടത്തി.[28] അവർ 2016 ഒക്ടോബർ 15-ന് മൊറോക്കോയിൽ വച്ച് വിവാഹിതരായി,[29][30] സോഷ്യൽ മീഡിയയിൽ പരസ്പരം പോസ്‌റ്റ് ചെയ്യാത്തതുൾപ്പെടെയുള്ള അവരുടെ ബന്ധം സ്വകാര്യമായി സൂക്ഷിച്ചു. 2019ൽ വേർപിരിഞ്ഞ ഇവർ 2020ൽ വിവാഹമോചിതരായി.[31][32][4]
