ഇന്ത്യൻ ആർമിയിലെ ഒരു ഫോർ സ്റ്റാർ ജനറൽ ആയിരുന്നു ജനറൽ ബിപിൻ ലക്ഷ്മൺ സിംഗ് റാവത്ത്       ADC (16 മാർച്ച് 1958 - 8 ഡിസംബർ 2021).[3] 2020 ജനുവരി 1 മുതൽ ഇന്ത്യയുടെ ആദ്യ ഡിഫൻസ് സ്റ്റാഫ് ചീഫ് ഓഫ് (സി.ഡി.എസ്) ആയി 2019 ഡിസംബർ 30-ന് അദ്ദേഹം അധികാരമേറ്റു.[4][5][6] സിഡിഎസ് ആയി ചുമതലയേൽക്കുന്നതിന് മുമ്പ്, ചീഫ് ഓഫ് സ്റ്റാഫ് കമ്മിറ്റിയുടെ 57-ാമത്തെയും അവസാനത്തെയും ചെയർമാനായും ഇന്ത്യൻ ആർമിയുടെ 26-ാമത് ആർമി സ്റ്റാഫ് മേധാവിയായും അദ്ദേഹം സേവനമനുഷ്ഠിച്ചു.

2021 ഡിസംബർ 8-ന് തമിഴ്‌നാട്ടിൽ ഇന്ത്യൻ വ്യോമസേനയുടെ Mi-17 ഹെലികോപ്റ്റർ അപകടത്തിൽ ജനറൽ റാവത്ത് മരിച്ചു. ഭാര്യയും പേഴ്‌സണൽ സ്റ്റാഫ് അംഗങ്ങളും അദ്ദേഹത്തോടൊപ്പമുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.[7]

ആദ്യകാല ജീവിതവും വിദ്യാഭ്യാസവും[തിരുത്തുക]

ഉത്തരാഖണ്ഡിലെ പൗരിയിൽ 1958 മാർച്ച് 16 ന്[8] ഒരു ഹിന്ദു ഗർവാലി രജപുത്ര കുടുംബത്തിലാണ് റാവത്ത് ജനിച്ചത്.[9] [1] കുടുംബം ഒന്നിലധികം തലമുറകളായി ഇന്ത്യൻ സൈന്യത്തിൽ സേവനമനുഷ്ഠിച്ചുവരുന്നു. പൗരി ഗർവാൾ ജില്ലയിലെ സൈഞ്ച് ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ നിന്നുള്ള അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പിതാവ് ലക്ഷ്മൺ സിംഗ് റാവത്ത് ലഫ്റ്റനന്റ് ജനറൽ പദവിയിലേക്ക് ഉയർന്നു.[10]

റാവത്ത് ഡെറാഡൂണിലെ കാംബ്രിയൻ ഹാൾ സ്കൂളിലും ഷിംലയിലെ സെന്റ് എഡ്വേർഡ്സ് സ്കൂളിലും പഠിച്ചു [11] തുടർന്ന് ഖഡക്വാസ്ലയിലെ നാഷണൽ ഡിഫൻസ് അക്കാദമിയിലും ഡെറാഡൂണിലെ ഇന്ത്യൻ മിലിട്ടറി അക്കാദമിയിലും ചേർന്നു, അവിടെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് 'വാൾ ഓഫ് ഓണർ' ലഭിച്ചു.

ഡി‌എസ്‌എസ്‌സിയിൽ ജോലി ചെയ്തിരുന്ന കാലം മുതൽ , ഡിഫൻസ് സ്റ്റഡീസിൽ എംഫിൽ ബിരുദവും മദ്രാസ് സർവകലാശാലയിൽ നിന്ന് മാനേജ്‌മെന്റ്, കമ്പ്യൂട്ടർ സ്റ്റഡീസ് എന്നിവയിൽ ഡിപ്ലോമയും നേടിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. 2011-ൽ, മീററ്റിലെ ചൗധരി ചരൺ സിംഗ് യൂണിവേഴ്‌സിറ്റി, സൈനിക-മാധ്യമ സ്ട്രാറ്റജിക് സ്റ്റഡീസിനെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ഗവേഷണത്തിന് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് ഡോക്ടറേറ്റ് ഓഫ് ഫിലോസഫി നൽകി ആദരിച്ചു. ബഹുമതികൾ[തിരുത്തുക]

40 വർഷത്തിലേറെ നീണ്ട തന്റെ കരിയറിൽ, പരമവിശിഷ്‌ട് സേവാ മെഡൽ, ഉത്തം യുദ്ധസേവാ മെഡൽ, അതിവിശിഷ്‌ട് സേവാ മെഡൽ, യുദ്ധസേവാ മെഡൽ, സേനാ മെഡൽ, വിശിഷ്ട സേവാ മെഡൽ, COAS അനുമോദനം എന്നിവയ്‌ക്കൊപ്പമുള്ള ധീരതയ്‌ക്കും വിശിഷ്ടസേവനത്തിനുമായി അദ്ദേഹത്തെ പുരസ്‌കാരം നേടി. അതോടൊപ്പം കരസേനാ മേധാവിയുടെ അനുമോദനവും ലഭിച്ചു.[13][14][15][16][17][18][19]
