റുബിയേസീ കുടുംബത്തിലെ പൂച്ചെടികളുടെ ഒരു ജനുസ്സാണ് ബിക്കിയ. ഫിലിപ്പീൻസ്, കിഴക്കൻ ഇന്തോനേഷ്യയിലെ മലുകു മേഖല, ന്യൂ ഗിനിയ, പടിഞ്ഞാറൻ പസഫിക് (മെലനേഷ്യ, മൈക്രോനേഷ്യ) എന്നിവയാണ് ഇതിന്റെ ജന്മദേശം.[1]1825-ൽ കാസ്പർ റെയിൻവാർഡ് ആണ് ഈ ജനുസ്സിന് പേര് നൽകിയത്.[2]മുമ്പ് ബിക്കിയയിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തിയിരുന്ന ന്യൂ കാലിഡോണിയൻ സ്പീഷീസുകളിൽ ഏഴെണ്ണം 2011-ൽ തന്മാത്രാ, രൂപാന്തര വിവരങ്ങളുടെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ തിയോലിയേറിയ എന്ന പ്രത്യേക ജനുസ്സിലേക്ക് മാറ്റപ്പെട്ടു.[3]
