ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് പ്രീമിയർ ലീഗിലെ പവർഹൗസായ മാഞ്ചസ്റ്റർ യുണൈറ്റഡിന് ശേഷം ഇന്ത്യയുടെ എം.യു. എന്നാണ് ക്ലബ് അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. 1962 ൽ മഹീന്ദ്ര ഗ്രൂപ്പിന്റെ രക്ഷാകർതൃത്വത്തിൽ മഹീന്ദ്ര & മഹീന്ദ്ര അലൈഡ് സ്പോർട്സ് ക്ലബ്ബ് എന്ന പേരിൽ ക്ലബ്ബ് സ്ഥാപിതമായി. [13] 1964-ൽ ബോംബെയുടെ ഹാർവുഡ് ലീഗിൽ ക്ലബ്ബ് പ്രവേശനം നേടി.

മുംബൈയിലെ ലീഗുകളിൽ[തിരുത്തുക]

അവരുടെ തുടക്കം മുതൽ, മഹീന്ദ്ര വെസ്റ്റേൺ ഇന്ത്യ ഫുട്ബോൾ അസോസിയേഷനിൽ (WIFA) അംഗമായി, പിന്നീട് 1983-ൽ മുംബൈ ഡിസ്ട്രിക്റ്റ് ഫുട്ബോൾ അസോസിയേഷനുമായി (മുമ്പ് BDFA ) അഫിലിയേറ്റ് ചെയ്തു. അവർ മഹാരാഷ്ട്ര ഫുട്ബോൾ ലീഗിനൊപ്പം ബോംബെ ഹാർവുഡ് ലീഗിന്റെ പിന്നീടുള്ള എഡിഷനുകളിൽ പങ്കെടുക്കുകയും 1970, 1982, 1984, 1985 എന്നീ വർഷങ്ങളിൽ നാല് തവണ ഹാർവുഡ് ലീഗ് വിജയിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു [14] [15]

അവർ പിന്നീട് MDFA എലൈറ്റ് ഡിവിഷനിൽ പങ്കെടുക്കുകയും 2000 മുതൽ 2004 വരെയും 2006 മുതൽ 2009 വരെയും തുടർച്ചയായി ട്രോഫികൾ ഉയർത്തുകയും ചെയ്തു [16] [17]

ഐഎഫ്എ ഷീൽഡിന്റെ 2006 പതിപ്പിൽ, കൊൽക്കത്തയിൽ മോഹൻ ബഗാൻ എസിയെ 1-0ന് പരാജയപ്പെടുത്തി മഹീന്ദ്ര യുണൈറ്റഡ് ചാമ്പ്യന്മാരായി. [28] [29] 2006 ഫെഡറേഷൻ കപ്പിലും അവർ പങ്കെടുക്കുകയും പെനാൽറ്റി ഷൂട്ടൗട്ടിൽ ഡെംപോ എസ്‌സിയെ 4-2ന് പരാജയപ്പെടുത്തി മൂന്നാം സ്ഥാനം നേടുകയും ചെയ്തു. [30] ഐഎഫ്എ ഷീൽഡിന്റെ 2008 പതിപ്പിൽ, അവർ ദക്ഷിണാഫ്രിക്കൻ ടീമായ സാന്റോസ് എഫ്‌സിയെ 3-1 ന് പരാജയപ്പെടുത്തി കിരീടം നേടി.

ഡെറിക് പെരേര ആയിരുന്നു ടീമിന്റെ മുഖ്യ പരിശീലകൻ. സുഭാഷിഷ് റോയ് ചൗധരി, മഞ്ജിത് സിംഗ്, സുറോജിത് ബോസ് തുടങ്ങിയ കളിക്കാർ ടീമുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്. രാജ്യത്തെ യുവപ്രതിഭകളെ പരിപോഷിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനായി അണ്ടർ 15, അണ്ടർ 19 ടീമുകൾ രൂപീകരിക്കാനും ക്ലബ് ശ്രമിച്ചു. [31]

MDFA എലൈറ്റ് ലീഗിനൊപ്പം നാഷണൽ ഫുട്ബോൾ ലീഗിന്റെയും ഐ-ലീഗിന്റെയും ഹോം മത്സരങ്ങൾക്കായി മഹീന്ദ്ര യുണൈറ്റഡ് മുംബൈയിലെ നരിമാൻ പോയിന്റിൽ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന കൂപ്പറേജ് ഫുട്ബോൾ ഗ്രൗണ്ട് ഉപയോഗിച്ചു.[32] ഇതിന് ഏകദേശം 12,000 കാണികളെ ഉൾക്കൊള്ളാനുള്ള ശേഷിയുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. [33] [34]

ക്ലബ് പിരിച്ചുവിടുന്നു[തിരുത്തുക]

2009-10 ഐ-ലീഗ് അവസാനിച്ചതിന് ശേഷം ക്ലബ് പിരിച്ചുവിടുമെന്ന് 2010-ൽ പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു. [35] [36] [37] മുംബൈയിലെ ഫുട്ബോളിന് കനത്ത തിരിച്ചടിയായിരുന്നു ഈ തീരുമാനം. [38]1991 മുതൽ ടീമിനൊപ്പമുള്ള മഹീന്ദ്ര യുണൈറ്റഡിന്റെ ചെയർമാനും ഇന്ത്യൻ ഫുട്‌ബോളിൽ മഹീന്ദ്ര മിക്കവാറും എല്ലാ കാര്യങ്ങളും നേടിയിട്ടുള്ളതുമായ മഹീന്ദ്ര യുണൈറ്റഡിന്റെ ചെയർമാനുമായ അലൻ ഡ്യൂറാന്റേ പറഞ്ഞു, ഇത് ചെലവുകളെക്കുറിച്ചല്ല.[39]
