ജെന്റിയാനാസി കുടുംബത്തിൽപ്പെട്ട സപുഷ്പികളുടെ ഒരു ജനുസ്സാണ് ജെന്റിയാന. [2]ഏകദേശം 400 സ്പീഷീസുകളുള്ള ഈ ജനുസ്സിനെ ഒരു വലിയ ജനുസ്സായി കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. വലിയ കാഹളത്തിന്റെ ആകൃതിയിലുള്ള പൂക്കളാണ് ജെന്റിയൻസിനെ ശ്രദ്ധേയമാക്കുന്നത്. അവയ്ക്ക് പലപ്പോഴും തീവ്രമായ നീല നിറമാണ് കാണപ്പെടുന്നത്.[3]
