ഷിംല ജില്ല ഉത്തരേന്ത്യയിലെ ഹിമാചൽ പ്രദേശ് സംസ്ഥാനത്തെ പന്ത്രണ്ട് ജില്ലകളിൽ ഒന്നാണ്. സംസ്ഥാന തലസ്ഥാനമായ ഷിംലയാണ് ഇതിന്റെ ആസ്ഥാനം. വടക്ക് മാണ്ഡി, കുളു, കിഴക്ക് കിന്നൗർ, തെക്കുകിഴക്ക് ഉത്തരാഖണ്ഡ്, തെക്ക് പടിഞ്ഞാറ് സോളൻ, തെക്ക് സിർമൗർ എന്നിവയാണ് സമീപ ജില്ലകൾ. സമുദ്രനിരപ്പിൽനിന്നുള്ള ജില്ലയുടെ ഉയരം 987 മീറ്റർ (3,238 അടി) മുതൽ 4,500 മീറ്റർ (14,764 അടി) വരെയാണ്.
2011 ലെ കണക്കനുസരിച്ച്, കാൻഗ്രയ്ക്കും മാണ്ഡിക്കും ശേഷം ഹിമാചൽ പ്രദേശിലെ ഏറ്റവും ജനസംഖ്യയുള്ള മൂന്നാമത്തെ ജില്ലയാണിത്.[1] ഹിമാചൽ പ്രദേശിലെ ഏറ്റവും നഗരവൽക്കരിക്കപ്പെട്ട ജില്ലയാണിത്.
