1826 സെപ്റ്റംബറിലാണ് ഈ ചിത്രം വരച്ചത്. 1827 ലെ സലൂണിൽ പ്രദർശിപ്പിച്ച ഈ ചിത്രം ഒട്ടാവയിലെ നാഷണൽ ഗാലറി ഓഫ് കാനഡയിലാണ് ഉള്ളത്.
വീക്ഷണം പുതുമയുള്ള ഒന്നായിരുന്നില്ല: 1826-ൽ കോറോട്ടിന്റെ സുഹൃത്ത് ഏണസ്റ്റ് ഫ്രൈസ് വരച്ചതുപോലെ, 1821-ൽ കോറോട്ടിന്റെ അധ്യാപികയായ അക്കില്ലെ-എറ്റ്ന മിഷലോണും അതേ രംഗം വരച്ചിരുന്നു. പരമ്പരാഗതവും പ്ലീൻ എയർ പെയിന്റിംഗും ലക്ഷ്യങ്ങളുടെ ഒരു അനുരഞ്ജനമായാണ് കലാ ചരിത്രകാരനായ പീറ്റർ ഗലാസി കോറോട്ടിന്റെ പഠനത്തെ വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്:
So deeply did Corot admire Claude and Poussin, so fully did he understand their work, that from the outset he viewed nature in their terms....In less than a year (since his arrival in Rome) he had realized his goal of closing the gap between the empirical freshness of outdoor painting and the organizing principles of classical landscape composition.[1]
