ഈ പക്ഷിയെ ഇംഗ്ലീഷിൽ Richard's Pipit എന്ന് അറിയുന്നു. ശാസ്ത്രീയ നാമം Anthus richardi എന്നാണ്. ഫ്രഞ്ച് പ്രകൃതിവിദഗ്ദ്നയിരുന്ന Monsieur Richard നോടുള്ള ബഹുമാന സൂചകമായാണ് ഈ പേര്.
പ്രജനനം
ഇവ വടക്കെ ഏഷ്യയിലെ തുറന്ന പുൽമേടുകളിൽ പ്രജനനം നടത്തുന്നു.
വിവരണം
17-20 സെ.മീ നീളവും 25-33 ഗ്രാം തൂക്കവും വരുന്നപക്ഷിയാണ്. ചിറകുകളുടെ അറ്റം തമ്മിൽ 29-33 സെ.മീ അകലമുണ്ട്. നിവർന്നു നിൽക്കുന്ന പക്ഷിയാണ്. നീണ്ട മഞ്ഞ കലർന്ന തവിട്ടുനിറമുള്ള കാലുകൾ ഉണ്ട്. നീളമുള്ള വാലിന്റെ അരികിലെ തൂവലുകൾക്ക് വെള്ള നിറമാണ്. നീളമുള്ള ഇരുണ്ട കൊക്കുണ്ട്. താഴെയുള്ള കൊക്കിന്റെ കടഭാഗം മഞ്ഞകലർന്നതാണ്. മുകളിൽ തവിട്ടു നിറവും താഴെ മങ്ങിയ നിറവും ആണ്. മുകളിലും നെഞ്ചിലും വരകളുണ്ട്. വയറും വശങ്ങളും അടയാളങ്ങളില്ലാത്തതാണ്.
വിതരണം
ദൂര ദേശങ്ങളിലേക്ക് , ഇന്ത്യൻ ഉപഭൂഖണ്ഡം, തെക്കുകിഴക്കൻ ഏഷ്യ, പടിഞ്ഞാറൻ യൂറോപ്പ് എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലേക്ക് ദേശാടനം നടത്തുന്നു.
പുല്ലുകളും മോസുകളും കൊണ്ട് പുല്ലുകൾക്കിടയിലാണ് കൂട് ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നത്.
ഭക്ഷണം
പുൽമേടുകളിലും കൃഷിയിടങ്ങളിലും ഇരതേടുന്നു. പ്രാണികളാണ് പ്രധാന ഭക്ഷണാം. നിലത്തു നടന്നാണ് ഇര തേടുന്നത്. ചെറുതായി പറന്ന് പറക്കുന്ന പ്രാണികളെ പിടിക്കാറുണ്ട്. വിത്തുകളും ഭക്ഷിക്കാറുണ്ട്.
