മലയൻ ഖാരിയൽ , സുന്ദ ഖാരിയൽ , ടോമിസ്റ്റോമ എന്നെല്ലാം അറിയപ്പെടുന്ന ഫാൾസ് ഖാരിയൽ പെനിൻസുലർ മലേഷ്യ, ബോർണിയോ, സുമാത്ര, ജാവ എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലെ സ്വദേശിയായ ശുദ്ധജല ജീവിയായ മുതലയുടെ ഒരു സ്പീഷീസാണ്. ഐ.യു.സി.എൻ റെഡ് ലിസ്റ്റിൽ വംശനാശ ഭീഷണിയുള്ളതായി ഇത് കാണപ്പെടുന്നു. ആഗോളതലത്തിൽ ഇതിൻറെ ജനസംഖ്യ 2,500-ൽ താഴെയാണ്.[1]
