അമേരിക്കയിൽ കണ്ടു വരുന്ന, മാർജ്ജാരവർഗ്ഗത്തിൽപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരു വലിയ ജീവിയാണ് പ്യൂമ.(പൂമ)[3] ഇംഗ്ലീഷ്:Puma. ഏറ്റവും അധികം പേരുകളുള്ള മൃഗം എന്ന ഗിന്നസ് റെക്കോഡുണ്ട് ഇതിന്. കൂഗർ, പാന്തർ, പ്യൂമ, മൗണ്ടൻ ലയൺ, മൗണ്ടൻ ക്യാറ്റ് തുടങ്ങി നാൽപ്പതോളം പേരുകളിൽ അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. കടുവ, സിംഹം, ജാഗ്വർ എന്നിവക്ക് പിന്നിലായി പുലിക്കൊപ്പം പൂച്ച കുടുംബത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ നാലാമത്തെ ജീവിയാണ് പൂമ. എങ്കിലും മാർജ്ജാര കുടുംബത്തിലെ ചെറു ജീവികളോടാണ് ഇതിന് കൂടുതൽ സാമ്യം.
