അഡോണിസ് എന്ന തൂലികാനാമത്തിലറിയപ്പെടുന്ന അലി അഹമ്മദ് സയ്യദ് എസ്‌ബർ (ജനനം:ജനുവരി 1 1930) ഒരു സിറിയൻ കവിയും ഗ്രന്ഥകാരനുമാണ്[2][3]. ലെബണനിലും, ഫ്രാൻസിലുമായി ജീവിതത്തിലേറെയും ചെലവഴിച്ച ഇദ്ദേഹം അറബിക് ഭാഷയിൽ ഇരുപതിലധികം ഗ്രന്ഥങ്ങൾ രചിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.

1930 ജനുവരി 1-ന് സിറിയയിൽ ജനിച്ചു. സൈന്യത്തിൽ ജോലി ചെയ്തിരുന്ന ഇദ്ദേഹം രാഷ്ട്രീയ അഭിപ്രായങ്ങളുടെ പേരിൽ തടവിലാക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു. തുടർന്ന് 1956-ൽ ലെബനീസ്‌ പൗരത്വം സ്വീകരിക്കുകയും കുറേക്കാലം ബെയ്‌റൂത്തിൽ വസിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. ഇപ്പോൾ ബെയ്‌റൂത്തിലും പാരീസിലുമായി താമസം. സാഹിത്യത്തിനുള്ള നോബൽ സമ്മാനത്തിന്‌ അവസാന റൗണ്ടിൽ നിരവധി തവണ പരിഗണിക്കപ്പെട്ടു[4][5].
