സൗദി അറേബ്യൻ മനുഷ്യാവകാശ പ്രവർത്തകയാണ് സമർ ബദാവി.15 വർഷമായി ശാരീരികമായി ഉപദ്രവിച്ചു വന്ന പിതാവിനെതിരെ അവർ നിയമനടപടി സ്വീകരിക്കുകയുണ്ടായി[2]. രക്ഷാകർത്താവ് എന്ന നിലയിൽ അനുസരണക്കുറവ് ആരോപിച്ച് ബദാവിയുടെ പിതാവും കോടതിയെ സമീപിച്ചു.തുടർന്ന് 2010 ഏപ്രിൽ 4ന് അവർ ജയിലിലടയ്ക്കപ്പെട്ടെങ്കിലും ബഹുജനപിന്തുണയെത്തുടർന്ന് 2010 ഒക്ടോബർ 25-ന് ജയിൽ മോചിതയാവുകയും[3] രക്ഷാകർതൃത്വം അവരുടെ ഒരു അമ്മാവനിലേക്ക് മാറ്റുകയും ചെയ്തു.
