ആംഗലത്തിൽ white-bellied treepie എന്നു പേരുള്ളതും ശാസ്ത്രീയ നാമംDendrocitta leucogastraഎന്നുമുള്ള കാട്ടുഞ്ഞാലി, തെക്കെ ഇന്ത്യയിലെ നിത്യ ഹരിത-അർദ്ധ ഹരിത കാടുകളിലെ സ്ഥിരവാസിയാണ്..[3]
രൂപ വിവരണം[തിരുത്തുക]
ശരീരവും തലയും വെളുത്തതാണ്.മുഖം മുതൽ കഴുത്തിന്റെ അടിവശം വരെ കറുപ്പു നിറമായിരിക്കും.ഗുദത്തിനു ചുവപ്പു നിറമുണ്ട്. നീളമുള്ള വാലിന്റെ വശങ്ങളും അറ്റവും കറുപ്പാണ്. ചിറകിൽ മുതുകത്ത് കാവി നിറം. പൂവനും പിടയും ഒരേ പോലെയിരിക്കും.
ഇവ ശബ്ദിക്കുമ്പോൾ തല താഴ്ത്തുകയും ചിറകുകൾ അയച്ച്ടുകയും ചെയ്യും.
പ്രജനനം[തിരുത്തുക]
ഏപ്രിൽ- മെയ് മാസങ്ങളിൽ പ്രജനനം നടത്തുന്നു. ഇടത്തരം വലിപ്പമുള്ള മരങ്ങളിൽ പരന്ന കൂട് ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നു. 3-4 ചാര നിറം കലർന്ന പച്ച മുട്ടകളിടും. മുട്ടകളിൽ ചുവന്ന കുത്തുകൾ ഉണ്ടാകും..[4][5]
മറ്റു പക്ഷികളുമായി ഇടകലർന്നു കാണാറുണ്ട്. മിക്കപ്പോഴും കാടു മുഴക്കിയുടെ കൂടെ കാണുന്നു.[3]

പശ്ചിമഘട്ടത്തിൽ ഗോവയ്ക്ക് തെക്കായി കാണുന്നു. [6] [7] [5])
