പ്രശസ്തയായ ഒരു ഇന്ത്യൻ ഹോക്കി കളിക്കാരിയാണ് എലീസ നെൽസൺ. ഇംഗ്ലീഷ്: Eliza Nelson, (പൂർവ്വ നാമം: എലീസ മെന്‌ഡോൻക)[1] ഇന്ത്യൻ ഹോക്കി സംഘത്തിന്റെ ക്യാപ്റ്റനായിരുന്നിട്ടുണ്ട്.[2] 1956 സെപ്തംബർ 27 മഹാരാഷ്ട്രയിലെ പൂനെയിൽ ഒരു ആംഗ്ലോ ഇന്ത്യൻ കുടുംബത്തിൽ ജനിച്ചു. ചെറുപ്പം മുതലേ ഹോക്കി കളിച്ചു വളർന്ന എലീസ ദേശീയ ഹോക്കി ടീമിൽ അംഗമാവുന്നതിനു മുൻപേ തന്നെ ഇന്ത്യൻ റെയില്വേക്ക് വേണ്ടി കളിക്കാനരംഭിച്ചിരുന്നു. 1982 ൽ ദില്ലിയിൽ വച്ചു നടന്ന ഏഷ്യൻ ഗെയിംസിൽ ഇന്ത്യയെ സ്വർണ്ണക്കപ്പ് വിജയത്തിലേക്ക് നയിച്ചു.[3] അതിനു മുൻപ് മോസ്കോ ഒളിപിക്സിൽ നാലാം സ്ഥാനത്തെത്തിയ ഇന്ത്യൻ ടീമിലും എലീസ അംഗമായിരുന്നു.
1981 ൽ രാജ്യം അർജ്ജുന അവാർഡ് നൽകി ആദരിച്ചു.[4] [5] 1983 പദ്മശ്രീ ലഭിച്ചു.[6]
