2002-ൽ നടന്ന ഒരു അഭിപ്രായ സർവേയിൽ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ മഹാന്മാരായ നൂറ് ബ്രിട്ടീഷുകാരിൽ ഒരാളായി തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുകയുണ്ടായി.ബ്രിട്ടനിൽ അദ്ദേഹം ഒരു ദേശീയ നിധിയായി കരുതപ്പെടുന്നു.
