(29 ഓഗസ്റ്റ്,1923 - 24 ഓഗസ്റ്റ് 2014). മികച്ച ചിത്രത്തിനുള്ള പുരസ്‌കാരം ഉൾപ്പെടെ എട്ട് ഓസ്‌കർ അവാർഡുകൾ ആറ്റൻബറോ നിർമ്മിച്ച 'ഗാന്ധി' സിനിമ നേടിയത്.

ജീവിതരേഖ

1942 ൽ ഇൻ വിച്ച് വി സേർവ് എന്ന സിനിമയിലൂടെയായിരുന്നു നടനായി ആറ്റൻബറോയുടെ സിനിമ അരങ്ങേറ്റം. 1947 ൽ പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയ ബ്രൈറ്റൻ റോക്കിലെ പ്രകടനം അദ്ദേഹത്തെ പ്രശസ്തനാക്കി. 1959 ൽ ബ്രയാൻ ഫോർബ്‌സുമായി ചേർന്ന് നിർമ്മാണരംഗത്തും സജീവമായി. 1982-ൽ ഗാന്ധി എന്ന ചിത്രത്തിത്തിലൂടെ സംവിധായകൻ,നിർമ്മാതാവ് എന്ന നിലയിൽ രണ്ടു അക്കാഡമി അവാർഡുകൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ തേടിയെത്തി.

പ്രമുഖ ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് പ്രക്ഷേപകനും പ്രകൃതി ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞനുമായ ഡേവിഡ് ആറ്റൻബറോ ഇളയ സഹോദരനാണ്.റിച്ചാർഡിന്റെ മൂത്തമകളും ഒരു പേരക്കുട്ടിയും 2004 ലെ സുനാമി ദുരന്തത്തിൽ കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടു.

ഒരു വീഴ്ചയെത്തുടർന്ന് ആറ് വർഷത്തോളം വീൽ ചെയറിലായിരുന്ന അദ്ദേഹം 2014 ഓഗസ്റ്റ്24 ന് അന്തരിച്ചു.
