അക്കാന്തേസീ സസ്യകുടുംബത്തിലെ 350 ഓളം സ്പീഷിസുകൾ ഉള്ള ഒരു ജനുസാണ് സ്ട്രോബിലാന്തസ് (Strobilanthes).[1] കൂടുതലായും ഇവ മഡഗാസ്കറിലും ഏഷ്യയിലെ ഉഷ്ണമേഖലകളിലും കാണുന്നു. അലങ്കാരസസ്യമായി നട്ടുവളർത്തിവരുന്നുണ്ട് മിക്ക സ്പീഷിസുകളും. മഞ്ഞ് തീരെ പ്രതിരോധിക്കാത്തവയാണ് ഈ ജനുസ്.[2] മിക്ക സ്ട്രോബിലാന്തസ് അംഗങ്ങളെയും മലയാളത്തിൽ കുറിഞ്ഞി എന്നു വിളിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്.
