ഇന്ത്യയുടെ ഒരു ബോക്സിങ് കായികതാരമാണ് വിജേന്ദർ കുമാർ (ജനനം: ഒക്ടോബർ 29, 1985). ബെയ്ജിങ് ഒളിമ്പിക്സിൽ 75 കിലോഗ്രാം മിഡിൽവെയ്റ്റ് വിഭാഗത്തിൽ ഇദ്ദേഹം വെങ്കലമെഡൽ കരസ്ഥമാക്കി.[2] ഒളിമ്പിക്സ് ബോക്സിങ്ങിൽ ഇന്ത്യയ്ക്കുവേണ്ടി മെഡൽ നേടുന്ന ആദ്യ കായികതാരമാണ് വിജേന്ദർ. [3]
ക്യൂബയുടെ എമലോ കൊറിയ ബെയൂക്സിനോടാണ് വിജേന്ദർ സെമിയിൽ പരാജയപ്പെട്ടത്. നേരത്തെ ഇക്വഡോറിന്റെ കാർലോസ് ഗോംഗോറയെ ക്വാർട്ടറിൽ തോല്പിച്ച് സെമിയിൽ കടന്നതിനാൽ ഇദ്ദേഹം ഇന്ത്യയ്ക്ക് ഒരു മെഡൽ ഉറപ്പാക്കിക്കഴിഞ്ഞു.[4]
ഷൂട്ടിങ്ങിൽ അഭിനവ് ബിന്ദ്രയും (സ്വർണ്ണം) ഗുസ്തിയിൽ സുശീൽ കുമാറും (വെങ്കലം) ബെയ്ജിങ് ഒളിമ്പിക്സിൽ ഇന്ത്യയ്ക്കുവേണ്ടി മെഡൽ നേടിയിരുന്നു. വിജേന്ദറിന്റെ വെങ്കലമെഡൽ കൂടിയായതോടെ ഇന്ത്യയ്ക്ക് 2008 ഒളിമ്പിക്സിൽ 3 മെഡലുകളായി. [5]
