നിറമോ മണമോ ഇല്ലാത്ത, അതിതീവ്രമായ ജൈവിക നശീകരണ ശേഷിയുള്ളതിനാൽ രാസായുധമായി ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്ന, ഒരു രാസവാതകമാണ് സരിൻ. ഇതിനെ ഐക്യരാഷ്ട്രസഭ കൂട്ട നശീകരണ ആയുധങ്ങളുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ പെടുത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. രണ്ടാം ലോകമഹായുദ്ധകാലത്ത് ജർമനിയും‍‍ സഖ്യസേനയും സരിൻ ഉപയോഗിച്ച് ആക്രമണങ്ങൾ നടത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. ശീതയുദ്ധകാലത്ത് സോവിയറ്റ് യൂണിയനും അമേരിക്കയും ഭീമമായ തോതിൽ ഇവ നിർമിച്ചിരുന്നു.
