കൊസ്റ്റ്യൂ കുടുംബത്തിലെ പര്യവേക്ഷകരുടെ മൂന്നാം തലമുറയാണ് കൊസ്റ്റ്യൂ. ഡോക്യുമെന്ററി-ഫിലിം മേക്കറും പരിസ്ഥിതി അഭിഭാഷകനുമായ ജീൻ-മൈക്കൽ കൊസ്റ്റ്യൂ, പര്യവേഷണ ഫോട്ടോഗ്രാഫറായ ആൻ-മാരി കൊസ്റ്റ്യൂ എന്നിവരുടെ മകളായി അവർ കാലിഫോർണിയയിൽ ജനിച്ചു.[3]അവർ സമുദ്ര പര്യവേക്ഷകനും സ്രാവ് വക്താവുമായ ഫാബിയൻ കൊസ്റ്റ്യൂവിന്റെ സഹോദരിയാണ്. സമുദ്ര പര്യവേക്ഷകരുടെ തുടക്കക്കാരനായ ജാക്വസ് കൊസ്റ്റ്യൂവിന്റെ ചെറുമകളുമാണ്. [3] ഫ്രാൻസിലെയും അമേരിക്കയിലെയും അവരുടെ കുടുംബ ഭവനങ്ങളിലാണ് അവർ വളർന്നത്.

കൊസ്റ്റ്യൂ തന്റെ ചെറുപ്പകാലം മുത്തച്ഛന്റെ ഗവേഷണ കപ്പലായ കാലിപ്‌സോയിൽ കുടുംബത്തോടൊപ്പം ചെലവഴിച്ചു.[4] അവരുടെ ആദ്യത്തെ പ്രധാന പര്യവേഷണങ്ങളിലൊന്ന് ഒൻപതാം വയസ്സിൽ അവരും അച്ഛനും മുത്തച്ഛനും ആമസോണിലേക്ക് പോകുമ്പോൾ ആയിരുന്നു. പുറം ലോകത്തിന് ഇപ്പോഴും അജ്ഞാതമായ പ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ അവർ 18 മാസം അതിന്റെ തീരപ്രദേശങ്ങളിലേക്കും കാടുകളിലേക്കും സഞ്ചരിച്ചു. വിദൂരവും ബന്ധപ്പെടാത്തതുമായ ഗോത്രക്കാരുമായുള്ള ഏറ്റുമുട്ടലും ഈ പര്യവേക്ഷണത്തിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു. ഈ അനുഭവത്തിലൂടെയാണ് കൊസ്റ്റ്യൂ പരിസ്ഥിതിയുടെ മാത്രമല്ല, മാനവികതയുടെയും പരസ്പരബന്ധിതത്വത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് അറിയാൻ തുടങ്ങിയത്.[4]മനുഷ്യന്റെ "ഗോത്രം", വ്യക്തികൾ, സമുദായങ്ങൾ, പരിസ്ഥിതി വ്യവസ്ഥകൾ എന്നിവ തമ്മിലുള്ള ബന്ധങ്ങൾ എന്നിവ മനസ്സിലാക്കുന്നതിനായി അവർ തന്റെ ജീവിതം ചെലവഴിച്ചു. അവരുടെ സിനിമകൾ, കലാസൃഷ്ടികൾ, ആക്ടിവിസം എന്നിവയ്ക്ക് പിന്നിലെ പ്രചോദനം ഇതാണ്. വിർജീനിയയിലെ നോർഫോക്ക് അക്കാദമിയിലും ന്യൂയോർക്ക് സിറ്റിയിലെ യുണൈറ്റഡ് നേഷൻസ് ഇന്റർനാഷണൽ സ്‌കൂളിലും പഠിച്ച കൊസ്റ്റ്യൂ 1994 ൽ സ്‌കിഡ്‌മോർ കോളേജിൽ നിന്ന് ബിരുദം നേടി. സ്‌കൂൾ ഫോർ ഇന്റർനാഷണൽ ട്രെയിനിംഗിൽ നിന്ന് ഇന്റർനാഷണൽ ആന്റ് ഇന്റർ കൾച്ചറൽ മാനേജ്‌മെന്റിൽ ബിരുദാനന്തര ബിരുദം നേടി. [6]

കോസ്‌സെൻട്രിക് പ്രൊഡക്ഷന്റെ സ്ഥാപകയും സിഇഒയുമാണ് കൊസ്റ്റ്യൂ. കോസ് സെൻട്രിക് പ്രൊഡക്ഷൻസ് ശബ്ദങ്ങൾ വർദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനും പരിഹാര കേന്ദ്രീകൃത അടിത്തട്ടിലുള്ള സംഘടനകളുടെയും പാരിസ്ഥിതിക, സാമൂഹിക-സാംസ്കാരിക വിഷയങ്ങളിൽ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്ന വ്യക്തികളുടെയും കഥകൾ ആശയവിനിമയം ചെയ്യുന്നതിനും ഹ്രസ്വചിത്രങ്ങൾക്ക് പ്രാധാന്യം നൽകി മൾട്ടി മീഡിയ ഉള്ളടക്കം നിർമ്മിക്കുകയും വിതരണം ചെയ്യുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
