ബോസ്റ്റൺ മാരത്തൺ ലോകത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ 6 മാരത്തൺ ഓട്ടമത്സരങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണ്. അമേരിയ്ക്കയിലെ ബോസ്റ്റണിൽ എല്ലാ വർഷവും ഏപ്രിൽ മാസത്തിലെ മൂന്നാമത്തെ തിങ്കളാഴ്ചയാണ് ഇതു സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചിരിയ്ക്കുന്നത്. 1897 ൽ ആണ് പ്രശസ്തമായ ഈ കായികമത്സരം ആരംഭിച്ചത്. [1]
സംഘാടകർ[തിരുത്തുക]
ബോസ്റ്റൺ അത് ലറ്റിക് അസോസിയേഷൻ (B.A.A.)ആണ് 1897 മുതൽ ഈ മാരത്തണിന്റെ ഔദ്യോഗിക സംഘാടകർ. [2] ഈ മത്സരം ആരംഭിയ്ക്കുന്ന കാലത്ത് ഏതാണ്ട് 18 പേർ മാത്രമാണ് പങ്കെടുത്തിരുന്നത്.[3] 2013 ൽ പങ്കെടുത്ത കായികതാരങ്ങളൂടെ എണ്ണം 26,839 ആയിട്ടൂണ്ട്. 1996 ലെ ബോസ്റ്റൺ മാരത്തണിന്റെ ശതാബ്ദിവർഷത്തിൽ തുടക്കത്തിൽ പങ്കെടുത്തത് 36,748 പേരും ,അവസാനം ലക്ഷ്യത്തിലെത്തിയത് 35,868 മത്സരാർത്ഥികളും ആണ്.
