ഇന്ത്യൻ സംസ്ഥാനമായ മഹാരാഷ്ട്രയിലെ ഒരു നഗരമാണ് ഔറംഗാബാദ് (ⓘ) അഥവാ ഛത്രപതി സംഭാജിനഗർ. മറാത്ത്വാഡ മേഖലയിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ നഗരവും ഔറംഗാബാദ് ജില്ലയുടെ ഭരണകേന്ദ്രവുമാണ് ഈ നഗരം.[4]
ജനസംഖ്യയുടെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ മഹാരാഷ്ട്രയിലെ നഗരങ്ങളിൽ നാലാം സ്ഥാനത്താണ് ഔറംഗാബാദ്. പരുത്തി തുണിത്തരങ്ങളുടെയും കലാപരമായ പട്ടുതുണിത്തരങ്ങളുടെയും പ്രധാന ഉൽപ്പാദനകേന്ദ്രമായി ഈ നഗരം അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. ഡോ. ബാബാസാഹേബ് അംബേദ്കർ മറാത്ത്വാഡ സർവകലാശാല ഉൾപ്പെടെ നിരവധി പ്രമുഖ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസസ്ഥാപനങ്ങൾ നഗരത്തിലുണ്ട്. 1983 മുതൽ യുനെസ്കോയുടെ ലോകപൈതൃകകേന്ദ്രങ്ങളായി പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുള്ള വിനോദസഞ്ചാരകേന്ദ്രങ്ങളായ അജന്ത, എല്ലോറ ഗുഹകൾ നഗരത്തിന്റെ പ്രാന്തപ്രദേശത്ത് സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു.[5]
