പുരാതന ഗ്രീക്ക് മതത്തിലും പുരാണത്തിലും ഉള്ള ഒരു ഹീറോയും. വൈദ്യശാസ്ത്രത്തിന്റെയും ദേവനുമായിരുന്നു അസ്‌ക്‌ളിപ്പിയസ് (/ æskliːpiəs /; ഗ്രീക്ക്: Åsklepius, Asklēpiós [asklɛːpiós];അസ്ക്ലേപ്പസ് മെഡിക്കൽ ആർട്ടുകളുടെ സൗഖ്യമാക്കൽ വശത്തെയാണ് പ്രതിനിധാനം ചെയ്യുന്നത്. ഹൈജിയ ("ശുചിത്വം", ദേവൻ / ആരോഗ്യം, ശുദ്ധി, ശുചീകരണം), ലാസൊ (രോഗം സുഖപ്പെടുത്തുന്ന ദേവത), ഏസെസോ (രോഗശമനത്തിന്റെ ദേവത), അഗ്ളേ / Ægle (നല്ല ആരോഗ്യത്തിന്റെ തിളക്കമുള്ള ദേവത), പനസീ (സാർവത്രിക പ്രതിവിധിയുടെ ദേവി) എന്നിവർ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പെൺമക്കൾ ആയി ചിത്രീകരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. റോമൻ / എട്രൂസ്സ്കാൻ ദേവനായ വെഡിയോവീസ്, ഈജിപ്ഷ്യൻ ഇംഹോടെപ്പുമായി അദ്ദേഹം ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.[1]അദ്ദേഹം അപ്പോളോയുടെ പുത്രന്മാരിൽ ഒരാളായിരുന്നു. അപ്പോളോയും പുത്രനും പീയ്ൻ ("രോഗശാന്തിക്കാരൻ") എന്ന എപിതെറ്റ് രണ്ടുപേരുമായി പങ്കിടുന്നു.[2]അസ്ലെപ്പിയസിന്റെ പാമ്പു ചുറ്റിയ വടിയും ഇന്ന് മരുന്നുകളുടെ പ്രതീകമായി തുടരുന്നു. ഈ ദേവന്മാരെ സേവിച്ച ഡോക്ടർമാരും ശുശ്രൂഷകരും അസ്ലെപ്പിയസിന്റെ ചികിത്സകർ എന്നറിയപ്പെട്ടു.
