കണ്ടാൽ പല്ലികളെപ്പോലെയുള്ള ഉഭയജീവികളാണ്.ന്യൂട്ടുകളും സലമാണ്ടറുകളും. ന്യൂട്ടുകളുടെ കോടെറ്റ എന്ന വിഭാഗത്തിൽ ഇന്ത്യയിൽ കാണപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരേ ഒരു ജീവിയാണ് ഹിമാലയൻ ന്യൂട്ട്(Tylototriton verrucosus). ഹിമാലയൻ ന്യൂട്ടുകളുടെ സംരക്ഷണാർത്ഥമുള്ള സംരക്ഷിത വനപ്രദേശമാണു ഡാർജിലിംഗിലുള്ള ജോർപോഖ്രി വന്യജീവി സങ്കേതം. [2]
