വലിയ മേടുതപ്പി[2] [3][4][5] (Circus cyaneus)യുടെ ഇംഗ്ലീഷിലെ പേരുകൾ hen harrier എന്നൊക്കെയാണ്. ഇതൊരു ഇരപിടിയ പക്ഷിയാണ്. ദേശാടന പക്ഷിയാണ്.
വിതരണം[തിരുത്തുക]
[[ഉത്തരാർദ്ധഗോളത്തിന്റെ വടക്ക്കാനഡ, അമേരിക്കൻ ഐക്യ നാടുകളുടെ വടക്കു ഭാഗം, യൂറേഷ്യയുടെ വടക്കു ബ്കാഗങ്ങളിൽ പ്രജനനം നടത്തുന്നു. തണുപ്പുകാലത്ത് തെക്കോട്ട് ദേശാടാനം നടത്തുന്നു. യൂറേഷ്യയിലെ കൂട്ടർ ദക്ഷിണ യൂറോപ്പ്, ഏഷ്യയിലെ മിതശീതോഷ്ണ പ്രദേശങ്ങൾഎന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലേക്ക് ദേശാടനം ചെയ്യും.
രൂപ വിവരണം[തിരുത്തുക]
ഇവയ്ക്ക് 41-52 ബ്സെ.മീ നീളം.[6]ചിറകു വിരിപ്പ് 97-122 സെ.മീ.[7][8]പൂവന്290-400 ഗ്രാം തൂക്കമുള്ളപ്പോൾ പിടയ്ക്ക് അത് 390-750 ഗ്രാമാണ്. [6][8] പിന്നിലെ കുതിനഖ(tarsus )ത്തിന് 7.1-8.9 സെ.മീ.. നീളം {[8]മറ്റുള്ള പരുന്തുകളെ അപേക്ഷിച്ച് വലിയ ചിറകും വാലുമുണ്ട്. [8]
പ്രജനനം[തിരുത്തുക]
ഇവ തരിശൂ നിലങ്ങൾ, ചതുപ്പുകൾ,പുൽമേടുകൾ,കൃഷിയിടങ്ങളിൽ പ്രജനനം നടത്തുന്നു.[9] കൂട് നിലത്തൊ മൺ തിട്ടകളിലൊ ചെടികളിലൊ ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നു.കമ്പുകൾ കൊണ്ടുള്ള കൂട്പുല്ലും ഇലകൾകൊണ്ട് ഉൾഭാഗം മൃദുവാക്കിയിരിക്കും.4-8 വെള്ള നിറത്തിലുള്ള മുട്ടകളിടും. [6][9] 47x36കളാവും. [10] ഇവക്കിടയിൽ ബഹുഭാര്യാത്വമുണ്ട്. പിട മുട്ടകൾക്ക് അടയിരിക്കും. ആ സമയത്ത് പിടയ്ക്കും കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങൾക്കും പൂവൻ തീറ്റ കൊടുക്കും.[9]ഒരു പൂവന് 5 പിടകൾ വരെ ഇണകളായി കാണാം.[11] പുവ്വന്റെ അദീന പ്രദേശം 2.6 കി.മീ.ച. കി.മീ. ആണ്. [12] 31-32 ദിവസംകൊണ്ട് മുട്ട വിരിയും. പിടയ്ക്ക് പൂവൻ കൊടുക്കുന്ന തീറ്റ പിട കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങൾക്ക് കൊടുക്കുന്നു.തീറ്റ കൂട്ടിലിട്ടു കൊടുക്കുകയാണ് ചെയ്യുന്നത്. [12] males.അസമാകുമ്പോൾ കുഞ്ഞ് പറക്കാൻ തുടങ്ങും.
തണുപ്പുകാലത്ത് തുറന്ന പ്രദേശാങ്ങളിലാണ് കാണുന്നത്. ആകാലത്ത് കൂട്ടമായാണ് ചേക്കേറുന്നത്
