മാക്സിൻ ഡി. ഹെയ്സ് (ജനനം 1946) 1998 മുതൽ 2013 വരെയുള്ള കാലത്ത് വാഷിംഗ്ടൺ സംസ്ഥാനത്തെ സംസ്ഥാന ആരോഗ്യകാര്യ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥയായി സേവനമനുഷ്ടിച്ചിരുന്ന ഒരു അമേരിക്കൻ പൊതുജനാരോഗ്യ വിദഗ്ധയാണ്. 2006-ൽ നാഷണൽ അക്കാദമി ഓഫ് മെഡിസിനിലേക്ക് തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ട അവർ അമേരിക്കൻ പബ്ലിക് ഹെൽത്ത് അസോസിയേഷൻറെ മാർത്ത മേ എലിയറ്റ് അവാർഡ് നേടിയിരുന്നു.
ആദ്യകാല ജീവിതവും വിദ്യാഭ്യാസവും[തിരുത്തുക]
ജിം ക്രോ നിയമങ്ങൾ പ്രാബല്യത്തിലായിരുന്ന മിസിസിപ്പിയിലാണ് ഹെയ്സ് വളർന്നത്.[1][2] സ്പെൽമാൻ കോളേജിൽ ബയോളജിയിൽ ബിരുദ വിദ്യാർത്ഥിനിയായിരുന്നു അവർ.[3] 1967-ൽ ഒരു വർഷം മെറിൽ സ്കോളറെന്ന നിലയിൽ ഷെർലി എഫ്. മാർക്‌സിനോടൊപ്പം[4] വിയന്നയിൽ ചെലവഴിച്ച അവർ വംശീയ വേർതിരിവില്ലാതെ തനിക്ക് ആദ്യമായി സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യം അനുഭവപ്പെട്ടുവെന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.
ഗവേഷണവും കരിയറും[തിരുത്തുക]
വാൻഡർബിൽറ്റ് യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റി മെഡിക്കൽ സെന്ററിലും ബോസ്റ്റൺ ചിൽഡ്രൻസ് ഹോസ്പിറ്റലിലുമായി ഹെയ്സ് പീഡിയാട്രിക്‌സിൽ പരിശീലനം നേടി.[5][6] സ്പെഷ്യലിസ്റ്റ് പരിശീലനം പൂർത്തിയാക്കിയ ശേഷം, ഹെയ്സ് ഹാർവാർഡ് ടി.എച്ച്. ചാൻ സ്കൂൾ ഓഫ് പബ്ലിക് ഹെൽത്തിൽചേർന്ന്, അവിടെനിന്ന് പൊതുജനാരോഗ്യത്തിൽ ബിരുദാനന്തര ബിരുദം നേടി.[7] ജയിലിൽ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെ പ്രസവിക്കുന്ന അമ്മമാർക്ക് ആരോഗ്യ സംരക്ഷണം നൽകുന്നതിനായി അവർ മസാച്യുസെറ്റ്‌സ് യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റി മെഡിക്കൽ സ്കൂൾ പ്രോജക്‌റ്റ് COPE ൽ പ്രവർത്തിച്ചു.[8]
