അരൌക്കാറിയ അരൌക്കാന (സാധാരണ, കുരങ്ങ് പസിൾ ട്രീ, മങ്കി ടെയിൽ ട്രീ, ചിലിയൻ പൈൻ, അല്ലെങ്കിൽ പെഹ്വെൻ) 1-1.5 മീ (3-5 അടി) വ്യാസവും 30-40 മീറ്റർ (100-130 അടി) ഉയരത്തിൽ വളരുന്നതുമായ ഒരു നിത്യഹരിത വൃക്ഷമാണ്. മദ്ധ്യ, തെക്കൻ ചിലി, പടിഞ്ഞാറൻ അർജന്റീന എന്നിവിടങ്ങളാണ് ഈ വൃക്ഷത്തിൻറെ ജന്മദേശം.[2] അരൌക്കാറിയ അരൌക്കാന കോണിഫറസ് വർഗ്ഗത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും കടുപ്പമുള്ള ഇനമാണ്. ഈ വൃക്ഷയിനത്തിൻറെ ദീർഘായുസ്സ് കാരണം, ഇവ "ലിവിംഗ് ഫോസിൽ" എന്നാണ് അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. ഇത് ചിലിയുടെ ദേശീയ വൃക്ഷമാണ്. 2013 ൽ വംശനാശ ഭീഷണി നേരിടുന്ന വർഗ്ഗത്തിലുള്ള വൃക്ഷമായി ഇതിൻറെ സംരക്ഷിത പദവി ഐ.യു.സി.എൻ. ഉയർത്തിയിരുന്നു.[1]
