മഡഗാസ്കറിൽ കാണപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരിനം ലീമർ ആണ് ബ്ലാക്ക് ലീമർ(Black Lemur) . ഇതിന്റെ ശാസ്ത്രനാമം Eulemur macaco എന്നാണ്.

സവിശേഷതകൾ

മഡഗാസ്കറിലെ തനതു ജീവികളാണ് ലീമറുകൾ . ബ്ലാക്ക് ലീമറിനു 39-45 cm നീളമുണ്ട്. ഇവയുടെ വാലിന്റെ നീളം 65 cm വരെ ഉണ്ടാകുന്നു. 2.9 kg കിലോഗ്രാം വരെ ഇവയ്ക്ക് ഭാരം ഉണ്ട്. ഉഷ്ണമേഖലാപ്രദേശത്തുള്ള ആർദ്ര താഴ്ന്ന പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലും , പർവ്വത വനപ്രദേശങ്ങളിലും ഇവ കാണപ്പെടുന്നു.

പഴങ്ങൾ ആണ് ഇവയുടെ ആഹാരം . ആ പ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ കാണപ്പെടുന്ന മിക്ക മരങ്ങളുടെയും പരാഗണം നടക്കുന്നത് ഇവമൂലമാണ്. വന നശീകരണം , വേട്ടയാടൽ എന്നിവ കാരണം ഇവയുടെ ജീവൻ ഇന്ന് അപകടത്തിലാണ്. പതിനഞ്ചായിരത്തിൽ താഴെ ബ്ലാക്ക് ലീമറുകൾ മാത്രമേ ഇന്ന് ഭൂമിയിൽ അവശേഷിക്കുന്നുള്ളൂ.^[2]
