ലണ്ടനിലെ യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റി കോളേജിൽ നിന്ന് ആഡംസ് വൈദ്യശാസ്ത്രത്തിൽ ബിരുദം നേടി. 1972-ൽ [2] അവർ ആഡൻബ്രൂക്സ് ഹോസ്പിറ്റലിൽ ജൂനിയർ ഡോക്ടറായി ജോലി തുടങ്ങി. അവളുടെ ഉപദേഷ്ടാക്കളിൽ സർ ഗോഡ്ഫ്രെ ഹൗൺസ്ഫീൽഡ്, സർ ചാൾസ് ഡെന്റ് തുടങ്ങിയ പയനിയർമാർ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു. ആഡംസ് 1945 ൽ ലിവർപൂളിൽ ജനിച്ചു, സാംബിയയിൽ വളർന്നു, യുകെയിലെ മാഞ്ചസ്റ്ററിൽ പ്രൊഫസറായി ജോലി ചെയ്യുന്നതിനിടെ 2017 ൽ മരിച്ചു. അവർ നീന്തലും കുതിരസവാരിയും ഫെൻസിങ് കളിച്ചും ആസ്വദിച്ചു. [10] അവർ പ്രൊഫസർ പീറ്റർ ആഡംസിനെ വിവാഹം കഴിച്ചു, ചാൾസ്, ജെയിംസ് എന്നീ രണ്ട് ആൺമക്കളെ വളർത്തി.
