ഒരു ഫ്രഞ്ച് ചിത്രകാരനും, ദാരുശില്പിയുമായിരുന്നു പോൾ ഗുസ്താവ് ദൊറെ (Paul Gustave Doré; ഫ്രഞ്ച്: [pɔl ɡystav dɔʁe]; ജനു: 6, 1832 – ജനു: 23, 1883). സ്ട്രാറ്റ്സ്ബുർഗിലാണ് ഇദ്ദേഹം ജനിച്ചത്. കേവലം പതിനഞ്ചു വയസ്സുള്ളപ്പോൾ തന്നെ ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ചിത്രങ്ങളുടെ സഹായത്തോടെയുള്ള ആദ്യത്തെ കഥ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിയ്ക്കപ്പെട്ടു. സാഹിത്യസൃഷ്ടികൾക്ക് അനുബന്ധമായി ചിത്രങ്ങൾ വരച്ചു ചേർക്കുന്ന ജോലിയായിരുന്നു ദൊറെ ആദ്യകാലത്ത് ചെയ്തിരുന്നത്. ബൽസാക്ക്, മിൽട്ടൺ, ഡാന്റെ, ഹബ്ലെ എന്നിവരുടെ രചനകൾക്ക് ദൊഹെയുടെ ചിത്രങ്ങൾ മിഴിവേകി. 1853 ൽ ബൈറണിന്റെ രചനകൾക്ക് ചിത്രീകരണം നടത്തുന്നതിനും ദൊറെ ചുമതലപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു.[1]

The illustrations are not attributed to any one of the three named on the title page.
