സൈപറേസീ കുടുംബത്തിലെ ഒരു ജനുസാണ് കൈല്ലിംഗ. ചൂടുള്ള ഭൂമദ്ധ്യരേഖാ പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലെ, പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് ആഫ്രിക്കയിലെ സ്വദേശികളാണ് ഈ ജനുസിലെ സസ്യങ്ങൾ.[1][2] 2 സെമീ മുതൽ ഒരു മീറ്റർ വരെ ഉയരത്തിൽ വളരുകയും ചിലപ്പോൾ കിഴങ്ങുകൾ ഇല്ലാതിരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന ഈ ജനുസിലെ ചെടികൾ രൂപവിജ്ഞാനീയപരമായി വിഭിന്നങ്ങളായിരിക്കുന്നു. സൈപ്രസ് സ്പീഷീസുമായി അടുത്ത ബന്ധമുള്ള ഇവയെ വിശാലമായി പരിഗണിക്കുമ്പോൾ ഈ സസ്യജനുസിന്റെ ഭാഗമായും പരിഗണിക്കാറുണ്ട്. 17ആം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിലെ ഡാനിഷ് സസ്യശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞനായിരുന്ന പെഡെർ ലോറിസ്ഡെൻ കൈല്ലിംഗിന്റെ പേരിലാണ് ഈ ജനുസ് അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്.
