ന്യൂസിലാൻഡിൽ മാത്രം കണ്ടുവരുന്ന പറക്കാൻ കഴിവില്ലാത്ത ഒരു തത്തയാണു കാകാപോ (Kakapo). Strigops habroptilus എന്ന ശാസ്ത്രനാമത്തിൽ അറിയപ്പെടുന്ന ഇവ രാത്രികാലങ്ങളിൽ ഇരതെടുന്നവയാണ്. [2] . മഞ്ഞയും പച്ചയും നിറമാണ് ഇവയ്ക്ക്. നിലത്ത് വസിക്കുന്ന ഇവയെ ഇലകളുടെ ഇടയിൽ നിന്ന് ഒറ്റ നോട്ടത്തിൽ തിരിച്ചറിയാൻ കഴിയില്ല. സ്വാഭാവിക ആവാസ സ്ഥാനങ്ങളിൽ ഇവയ്ക്ക് നാല്പത് വർഷത്തിൽ അധികം ആയുസ്സ് ഉണ്ടാകുന്നു. [3] . അമിതമായ വേട്ടയാടലും മറ്റും കാരണം ഇവ ഇന്ന് അപകടനിലയിലാണ്. ഏകദേശം നൂറ്റി ഇരുപതോളം കാകാപോകൾ മാത്രമാണ് ഇന്ന് അവശേഷിക്കുന്നത്.[4][5]
