എറിക് ഇ. ഷ്മിറ്റ് (ജനനം ഏപ്രിൽ 27, 1955[3]) ഒരു എഞ്ചിനീയറും, ഗൂഗിളിന്റെ എക്സിക്യുട്ടീവ് ചെയർമാനുമാണ്‌. 2001 മുതൽ 2011 വരെ ഗൂഗ്‌ളിന്റെ സി.ഇ.ഒ. ആയി പ്രവർത്തിച്ചിരുന്നു. ഇതിനു മുൻപ് ആപ്പിളിന്റെ ഡയറക്ടർ ബോർഡിലെ അംഗമായിരുന്നു[4][5]. ഒരു ഡോളർ ശമ്പളം വാങ്ങുന്ന അദ്ദേഹം[2] ഓഗസ്റ്റ് 2001-ലാണ്‌ ഗൂഗിളിന്റെ സി.ഇ.ഒ ആയത്. കാർനെഗെ മെല്ലെൻ സർ‌വ്വകലാശാലയുടെയും[6], പ്രിൻസ്ടൺ സർ‌വ്വകലാശാലയുടെയും[7] ബോർഡ് ഓഫ് ട്രസ്റ്റീസ് അംഗമായും ഇദ്ദേഹം പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്.
ജീവചരിത്രം[തിരുത്തുക]
ഷ്മിറ്റിന്റെ ജനനം വാഷിംഗ്ടൺ ഡി.സി.യിലായിരുന്നു. വിർജീനിയയിലെ യോർക്ക്ടൌൺ ഹൈസ്കൂളിൽനിന്ന്[8] വിദ്യാഭ്യാ‍സം പൂർത്തിയാക്കിയശേഷം അദ്ദേഹം പ്രിൻസ്ടൺ യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റിയിൽ BSEE ബിരുദത്തിനായുള്ള പഠനത്തിനു ചേർന്നു. 1976ൽ ബിരുദം നേടി.[9] തുടർന്ന് 1979ൽ ബെർക്ൿലിയിലെ കാലിഫോർണിയ് സർവ്വകലാശാലായിൽനിന്ന് ബിരുദാനാന്ദരബിരുദവും[10][11] 1982ൽ EECSൽ ഗവേഷണബിരുദവും നേടി.[12] കമ്പയിലർ നിർ‌മ്മാണത്‌തിനുപയോഗിക്കുന്ന പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ട് ഉപകരമായ ലെക്സിന്റെ സഹസ്രഷ്ടാവുമായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹം. സ്റ്റാൻഫോർഡ് ബിസിനസ് സ്കൂളിൽ പാർട്‌ടൈം പ്രഫസറായും സേവനമനുഷ്ഠിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.[13]
ഇന്നദ്ദേഹം കാലിഫോർണിയയിലെ ആതർട്ടണിൽ ഭാര്യ വെൻ‌ഡിയോടൊപ്പം താമസിക്കുന്നു.[14]
